And Antrel Rolle remaining unsigned as of Friday evening.
The big story of the day regarding the New York Giants may also be the least reported story of the 2010 NFC East offseason. The NFL Network time and time again on Friday indicated that the Giants may be so interested in Rolle because Kenny Philips is not nearly as healthy as reported in early February. Even with a 100 percent Phillips, though, the Giants could certainly use more help in a secondary that was battered, bruised and abused by opposing offenses throughout the second half of the 2009 NFL season.
As of Friday night, the Giants remained confident that Rolle would be holding up a New York Giants hat during a press conference before the end of the weekend. With that said, the Giants are exploring other options "just in case." Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger has reported that the Giants have been in contact with a few other options, including 34 year old Darren Sharper. You may remember Sharper from owning the Giants on numerous occasions during the past few years.
One thing that could cause Giants fans to lose sleep; Rolle may be willing to let the Arizona Cardinals match any offer made to him by the New York Giants. It would be quite a story if the Giants were outbid by the Arizona Cardinals but, hey, stranger things have occurred during NFL free agency.
