They loved him last year too, you can feel the emotions from the team. Their comments are very pro White and supportive of him. The fans chant his name. It certainly helps he is not Wilson.
Everyone always falls in love with a backup when the starter is that bad. He is definitely not good but he also isn't a dumpster fire and with that defense that can be enough
Path to the playoffs is now devolved into an argument about quarterbacks. We'll beat the Pats and then will root on a Jests loss to the Hags and a Steelers loss to Baltimore. And we're in.
I actually disagree. There are 2 cities I would NEVER want to quarterback in…Philadelphia and New York. Both of those cities, the fans will eat their own. You can’t have a bad season, let alone a bad few games before fans are ready to devour the entire organization. Saw it with Reid and McNabb in Philadelphia, Coughlin and Manning with the Giants and gee, fill in the blanks with _____ and _____ with the Jets. White had better not lose a game otherwise, the knives will come out right quick and in a hurry.
Here's a nice summary of our playoff scenarios: https://www.si.com/nfl/dolphins/news/miami-dolphins-updated-2022-playoff-picture-through-week-16 We're not favored to win in NE (+3 underdogs). It may come down to us beating the Jets and NE losing to Buffalo. What a sad state of affairs to end the season after starting off so strong.
I still think our best chance is locking it up this week- we win and Jets lose. I do believe that we can beat the Jets in the final week with Tua...I believe we win both with Tua since we're the best of the three teams. But I don't think we'll have Tua for either game.
I was still convinced we were going to enter the playoffs strong, even with the loss the San Francisco, but with the losses at the Chargers and Bills (even though we played well in the Bills game), I knew that if we were to make the playoffs, we were going to limp in...if we still make it in. It seems year after year, we always have the same discussion as to what railroaded our season and injuries always seems to be there towards the top of the list. I'm just hopeful that we do make the playoffs, even if we are one and done. I'd rather make the playoffs and have that experience under the team's belt than missing out all together. Just hope we have a good strong foundation to expand on next season.
My main goal at this point is to see a healthy Tua start a playoff game. If that's not possible, then so be it. My 2nd goal would be to see the Fins win a playoff game or two with Bridgewater, just to build momentum into next season.
It would be a great thing...to win with Bridgewater under center, but I just don't see it. The times he's started, he just seems so lethargic...so unmotivated. I truly think he believed he was going to be the starting quarterback, beating out Tua and when that didn't happen? This team can't win without Tua. He's the spark plug in this engine and without any spark, the engine won't run. I hate to sound so pessimistic, and I hope I am wrong...God I hope I'm wrong; I would so love to eat crow and a piece of humble pie but with how the month of December has gone I just don't see it. We MAY get into the playoffs but I know either with or without Tua, we're going to get bounced in the wildcard game. Teams that limp into the playoffs are bounced out right quick and in a hurry.
I do agree with you, HOWEVER, Bridgewater is in an ideal situation for this career. We have a very high powered offense that needs a win or two in order to get into the playoffs. We have a starting QB who may be questioning his future in the NFL. If he's ever going to make his case to take the starting role, it's right now. It's his team to lead through the playoffs and you couldn't really ask for anything better as a backup- look at what happened to Nick Foles career when he was in that situation. I'm still rooting for the Cinderella story this year. Probably won't get it, LOL, but that's not going to stop me from rooting for it!
Bridgewater looked to me like he was bothered to get off the bench. I wouldn't doubt he faked a concussion against the Jets to get taken out of the game. He's had concussions and a major knee injury. He should be perfectly content hanging on as a backup as long as he can. Every snap he takes is risking his next contract as a backup.
Obviously him faking is nonsense but nobody should really question his effort when he has the team a Waddle fumble away from winning in a game where the Vikings had 6 sacks and 13 QB hits.
I hope you’re right. Like I said, I’d love to eat crow but if Bridgewater is as lethargic during the first series like he was against the Jets (1st and only play) and the Vikings, I just don’t see it happening. But you are right, he is poised to make an argument for him to be a starter, be it Miami (depending on Tua’s ultimate outcome) or another team. What happens to Bridgewater after this season is up to him.
Not a fan of Teddy but he can win as a game manager vs the Pats and Jets. Don't turn it over Ted. I just hope the Jets lose this weekend which will make life easier for us.
