''We were trying to think of the last two guys on the same team that had 1,000 yards each -- or whether anybody has done it at all,'' Brown said during a conversation with The Miami Herald two weeks ago. ``We think we can do it.''

What a treat that would be to watch! Quite a lofty goal but I like it

Love to hear this but I don't want Ronnie to rush back just to top 1000 yards with Ricky. Screw the stats, get healthy because if you don't get healthy now and you rush it back, those stats won't be able to be achieved in the future.

Wasn't there a couple Niners to do it in the early nineties?

It's nice to see the boys setting lofty, but attainable, goals.

Should we be putting on the snooze alarm on this offense ? Are we worried this could be the most boring offense in the NFL ? How do you win a game if they know you are gonna run all the time, and if they stop it....well we are SOL. This is an improvement ?

I thought we needed to find a QB for the future. Hell why not keep Lemon if this is the offense we run ?

I was gonna say, I'm pretty sure the Falcons did it too. Had no idea Vick was the other guy though.

cmon bro.. don't buy into the wannyball garbage. It's a progression. You start by improving the line, then you establish the run, and THEN your inexperienced qb has a genuine shot at developing properly. The second those db's cheat up, Ginn is gone.

didn't the Broncos have 2 guys 2 or 3 seasons ago, before travis henry got there, and before their o-line hit the wall?

im excited. offensive running is my favorite part of the game. we should have an o-line that punishes the defense in the run game. hopefully we're competent enough to threaten a bit with the pass. fasano's recovery and impact will be pretty vital imo.

Sounds like a great plan they have here. Id love to see it happen. If Ronnie wasnt coming off this injury, there would probably be no question at all that its possible. At least I dont think so

No, they just had different 1,000 yard rushers year after year. Terrell Davis, Olandis Gary, Clinton Portis, Rueben Droughns, Mike Anderson...

I'm really trying to not get to pumped about our season. I know we are rebuilding and we are probably not gonna do as well as I would like, but.....after reading articles like that....I'm jacked up and frothing at the mouth. I believe we will see something special this season with them guys. I hope they stay healthy and drug free. Bring on R&R. Probably the best tandem ever.

PMZQ, the very scenario that you fear happing is the one that produced "Perfectville" 17 -0.

It wasn't boring to me to sit back and watch our dominate running attack totally demoralize opposing defenses. It will take the fight out of a team quicker than any passing attack because of the physicality required to execute it.

It also fits well for a team with a unproven QB. I think JB has the intelligence to prosper in an offense designed to be a dominate running team. It will be the perfect platform for our QBs to build upon. Line upon line, precept upon precept.

...and that was also the 1970s. The 80s and beyond saw the rise of the West Coast offense and Air Coryell, with different variations of both taking over the league. The days of winning as a primarily rushing team are over. Even Parcells knows that, I could tell from watching the Cowboys when he arrived and until last year.

I don't believe that for one second. The enemy of any football team is TIME. The team that controls the clock is the one most likely to win. Provided they have a defense that can keep the opposition from scoring at will.

Actually, Parcells and Co. have stated that they think it's time to reverse the trend of those high powered passing offenses by building a team with a dominate OL and rushing attack. There was a nice article on just this very subject right after Parcells assembled this current Phins Coaching staff.

    ACK!

Only the very organization you play for had the first RB tandem to rush for 1000 yards each in a season there Ronnie. :pity:

That accomplishment was done in a 14 game season as well.

It depends on your taste.Personally I love smashmouth football...with a little passing mixed in to loosen defenses up.

The great Dolphin teams of the 70s were like that :wink2:
