By Chris Perkins 1:33 p.m. EDT, August 3, 2013 The Dolphins signed guard Jeff Braun and waived/injured guard Brian Thomas on Saturday. Braun, a 6-4, 309-pound undrafted rookie from West Virginia who wasn’t invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, was signed by Baltimore on May 4 and cut five days later. He has strength. He bench-pressed 225 pounds 29 times at West Virginia’s Pro Day. But Braun admitted the knock on him is athleticism, and that could be a problem in the Dolphins’ zone blocking scheme. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...lease-g-brian-thomas-20130803,0,4175950.story
He is so good that no team signed him right after the draft. He has been a UDFA up til the time Miami signed him.
From what I have heard he had some terrible numbers on the athletic side during his pro day. Poor leaping ability even for a OL, which shows lack of explosion in lower body. But you never know. I give any of the young guys the opportunity to at least show what they can. I am pulling for the young receivers and some of the young linemen, like Sam Brenner.
