I think it's just the opponents we play. Just gotta choose weaker opposition and we can stick with our coach and players.
Maybe if we can play the Browns with their 5th string quarterback and a high school kicker we can feel better.
No better entertainment than this board after a game. I wish some of you held the nuclear launch codes.
I was half joking when I said this. There is no way the vikings let Zimmer go. I say if Gase can't get us 5 wins we let him go and go get Wade Phillips or Sean McDermott if you're a gambling man. I've seen way too many Philbinesque moments in the first three games.
Yeah I'm not mad at Gase either. It shows real guts on his part to give Tannehill that kind of control to see what he's capable of. I agree he needs at least 5 wins or so this season.. this roster on paper is easily worth that much (and to his credit a 1-2 record over 16 games will give us 5 wins!) The big question for me regarding Gase is how long does he stick with something that isn't working. Not sure yet because it's still in the experimentation phase (from his point of view), but I think we'll have an idea at the latest by offseason next year.
He's got experience and Denvers defense is the best. I'm going to save this post because I'm sure someone is going to be smart enough to give him another shot but it won't be the Dolphins.
Lets be honest, this is probably more fitting for the soapbox/rants section. Some of us come here to actually read and take part in quality conversations around football. This is clearly not that. It's got nothing to do with smarter, better, or anything.. although that's exactly what you tried to imply with your first post. Anyways, carry on..
I predict another season or two, and most of the board will agree with the OP. Hire a great defensive mind as head coach next--- that's one of the first steps to take in *maybe* competing with NE for the divsion. Not saying to completely throw it out the window, but enough of this offense-mindedness. You're not going to win shootouts with NE. Fix the damn defense and begin to explore viable alternatives to Tannehill.
I apologize guys. I see the error in my ways. Jeff Ireland is still too blame. he only drafted Vontate Davis, Sean Smith, Reshard Jones, Brian Hartline, Jared Ordrick, Oliver Vernon, Charles Clay, Lamar Miller ETC and signed undrafted free agents such as Cameron Wake and Devone Bess.
Can we trade Suh for a boatload of picks so we can rebuild this team? And please fire Tannenbaum. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
This board swears Gase and Tannehill are the men for the job. We'll see how many flip their positions within 4 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haha I was so pissed when I started this. I'll give Gase some credit but I'm still still skeptical. I like and have liked Tannehill the whole time.
I really don't see the players on this roster which equates to 4 more victories against their remaining schedule. On defense, you have Suh, an older Wake, and Jones, who has yet to come close to playing to the level he did before his season ending injury last year. The rest of the defensive players would have a hard time being backups on the better defenses in the NFL. On offense, Cutler showed today that he probably should have stayed retired. The TE position has regressed since last year and the OL is no better than it has been over recent seasons. The WR's had trouble getting away from coverage, even though the Jets defense was stacked to stop the run. I give Gase credit for somehow leading this team to 10 wins last season but against the schedule they have this year and the overall lack of talent on the roster, 5 wins this year should get him votes for coach of the year. I blame Tannebaum for the lack of talent on this team and hopefully Ross will see that a change needs to be made in the head of football operations when this season ends. As long as Tannebaum is running football operations, we have no chance of competing with the Patriots and the other quality teams in the NFL.
If Tannebaum remains, Head of Football Opeations, Gase will be long gone before four years and I have never felt Tannehill is the one term answer at the QB position. Whether Gase is a good head coach or not,we may never really know. Because as long as Tannebaum is running football operation, we will NEVER have the talent on the roster to fairly judge Gase, one way or the other.
I agree with the OP in regards to firing Gase. Gase is a POS! However, this problem starts at the top. Ross needs to sell the team to someone that will clean house. Fire TBum and the emtire front office. Fire all of the coaches.
