this is ****ing pathetic play calling. are we trying to sabotage pennington?! to get henne in there? wtf is this ****......whata joke....win or lose.....hes pathetic 36 draw plays this game......its pathetic. its like playing someone thats not good in madden they run the same plays over and over again
Maybe if we cover Dallas Clark then this wouldn't be an issue. The last 3:00 was terrible clock management, but the defense put the offense in a situation like this.
Henning?? You forget that we controlled the ball for 45 minutes and still lost. It was the DEFENSE that blew it tonight. We can only give up so many big plays and missed tackles before it will catch up with us. We had a strong offense for the first time in a while but the D let the Colts run all over them.
Why the **** will we not go deep? When you are running for 300 yards there should be at least 1 chance for a play action fake and to go deep. We will not throw the ball over 15 yards, ****ing joke. Just how the **** can you lose when you hold the ball for 45 minutes?!?!?
defense can only do so much when your offense is literally giving away points and settling for field goals off clay......the play calling is a travesty. highschool. and needs to be discussed, it was ****ing brutal
Wow. I doubt I've ever seen a worse 3:00 drill. Pathetic. Run-run and two time-outs to gain 15 yards and burn off 1 minute? A QB sneak on 3rd on 1 to run off 15 seconds? Did we really think we couldn't complete a pass in 2 downs? What a pile of crappola.
Bull****. Pure bull****. You put your defense on their for a freakin' quarter of the game, there's no excuses for how they played.
Im leaning this way after tonight... Playing for FG's against Manning and the colts, with a suspect Secondary... NOT a good idea. What makes anyone on our staff thinks its a good idea is beyond me... Just... a pathetic effort
We lost because our defense played like absolute garbage. That was disgusting. I mean I completely understand it was Peyton Manning and all, but lets be serious, some of those play calls were awful. Manning picked up on just about every single one of our blitz packages and made us pay for it every time. There was a reason that offense was not on the field for long... because they didn't need to be! The Offense played fine today, and thats the kind of offense we need. The last few drives pittered out, but by no means was this their fault at all. This was a complete breakdown of our defense. I mean hell, we controlled 75% of the game with our offense. We failed on one drive, and it was the final drive of the game. Yes, it was an awful drive. But one drive out of 45 minutes of regulation play does not make an overall bad performance. Week 1 - Complete breakdown of Offense Week 2 - Complete breakdown of Defense. CAN we SERIOUSLY get a week that both sides at least play decent? For christ's sakes, this is killing me here.
This loss is squarely on the shoulders of the defense. Period. FANTASTIC game plan, and play calling by Dan Henning. I was on his a** last week. Not this time.
3rd and 7.....run the ball. fieldgoal 3rd and 6....3 minutes to go.....run the ball. fieldgoal..... 2 straight draw plays with 1 timeout.....a qb sneak with no timeouts......gimme a break dude, the offense was ****ing unbearable and compleltey disgusting to watch (when it came to the horrible play calling)
Two minute drill sucked, but that's not who we are anyway. The defense lost us this game, that's it. 0:12 TD 80 yard drive to open the game 3:52 FG 58 yard drive 0:32 FG 54 yard drive before half 3:05 FG 76 yard drive 0:33 TD 80 yard drive
i think they are blaming the OC he sucks two runs to start off a drive when we are down and our offense could have managed the clock a little bit better and we might have won
I admit, the playcalling in the last 3:00 was bad. But to place blame on this loss solely on the offense is a ****ing joke. You can't let Manning direct those 20 yards per play drives on you. You just can't. You can blame the usual scapegoats though, that's fine...
Just watching the highlights...this was a true team loss. Did the defense give it up? Yes. However, the offense had plenty of times to put 7 on the board rather than 3 and they could have bailed them out. STs missed a FG. Plus, the gameplan from the coaches was very poor. We really put our players in tough situations to be successful.
No way to defend it. You have to point to the rest of the game. I was pretty pleased we were in it up to the last 3:30 minutes. But the play calling on the last drive was just horrible. Like I said, no way to defend it.
regardless of win or loss and whos fault it is......i want answers for the absolute garbage play calling at the END OF THE GAME by henning.
THIS... Did the defense ****ing suck? Yes... But we wasted 1 min and 13 sec, plus a timeout for ****ing 4 yards in two plays (running plays) from inside the 20. ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?!
Completely disagree. It's tried and true. If you don't score TDs in this league and settle for 3, it comes back to haunt you. I hate how they're saying that is as good as we can play. It isn't. We left 10+ plays on that field.
That OC put together some nice long drives though. I still blame the defense. I didn't even mind the first draw, I didn't like the second draw at all. I said that I thought the last 3:00 of playcalling was bad. But our defense put us in a situation like that. I still don't understand some of the arguments. If Brown breaks that draw for a TD, then it'd be a genius call. Some of you will neglect that, but it's so true. If Sparano went for it on forth and one earlier in the game and he doesn't make it... then hell will break loose. These armchair coordinators and coaches kill me. I feel better about our team though for the rest of the year, I will admit that much.
Overall I thought it was a better called game than last week. We took a few shots, we did more 10-15 yard strikes, and earlier than 3rd down. We went for the first down on quite a few of the longer goes, and converted some. The last drive was pretty bad, but the on field execution and clock management were far worse. Im not saying this was a great game as far as playcalling, but it wasnt that bad either - we just couldnt finish on the field. Our lack of a down the field playmaker is glaring though - we lack the ability to get big chunks of ground quickly. A bad day from the D is going to result in a loss.
it wasnt just the last drive. There were times in the game where we have the ball on our own 35 and we settled for FGs. wtf 3rd and 6 and henning called a running play
to the people saying that the defense lost the game for us, i might agree but that was Peyton ****ing Manning out there. Until the Dolphins can learn to play better on offense all we'll be is a second tier team (with our defense). Controlling the clock against lousy offenses works, but if you're playing Peyton ****ing Manning you're destined to lose unless you can put at least 30 points on the board.
There was always some question marks in playcalling where if it works, it'd be a great call. But when it doesn't, then it's suddenly a call that is worth firing someone, apparently. Why the hell would you risk turning the ball over on 4th down (some people wanted to go for it on 4th down, I seen) and letting Manning direct another 3 play, 75 yard drive for a touchdown?
We didn't lose this game on our final drive, we lost it on every drive we settled for a field goal. We lost it because our coaches failed to recognize the fact the Colts couldn't stop RB in the wildcat. We stopped ourselves by depending on Pennington too much. You keep using something until they stop you... Yeah the defense sucked but we knew our Safeties and LB's suck in coverage. Manning scoring 27 points on our secondary, isn't some huge shocker. I can think of a handful of guys that owe Ricky and Ronnie an apology. Those guys put on one hell of a show tonight for the whole country to see....they deserved to go home winners.
SPOT ON. We settled for Field Goals. And we settled for long field goals off the infield dirt. We were fortunate Carpenter hit those 2. Ginn's gotta catch those 2 TDs Our defense looked so lost and unprepared. But it could've and should've been overcome. But it seems that our coaching staff and Henning have absolutely no confidence in Pennington. Anytime we're in 3rd and Long we're screwed. If that is the case and we don't have any confidence in Pennington, then just get Henne in there and see what he's got. I mean running the ball 2 times inside your own 20 with 3:30 left down by 4?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Running on 3rd and 6 and 3rd and 7?!
What do you want? Chad Pennington is our QB. He can't throw the ball downfield. So, you want Henning to call 15-20 yard out routes that wind up floating ducks, which the Colts take 50 yards the other way for 6 points? I don't give a rat's a** about the last 3 minutes, because WE DIDN'T LOSE THIS GAME IN THE LAST THREE MINUTES. The defense lost this game. We ran all over the Colts, and they would have never even been in the game in the end if it weren't for the defense giving up big plays.
