ya hes gettin to ****ing fancy....we are running all over them.....then we run reverses and bull**** running back throws......stick to whats working henning....
I had his picture in my avatar with a big red X over his face after the Cardinals game last season. Overall he's a horrendous OC who replies on gadget plays for everything. Unfortunately, he's a Parcells guy.
He gets cute when he has NO reason to get cute, if we lose this game it will be because of that stupid stupid call. And I know it was early in the game but just like in San Diego when Ronnie fumbled on the one yard line it changes the complexion of the game and gives the other team new life.
I'll second that motion. He has made questionable calls for two seasons now and his play calling today just got us eliminated from the playoffs
Henning set the tone for this game early. It was about as bad a call as I have ever seen. I could not think of any reason that call would even come to mind in that situation. It would be a bad call EVEN if Ricky throws a TD. NO REASON for the ball in the air...NONE..You took all the momentum and threw it away and they never got it back
Exactly, horrible call no matter the result. The only times I ever want to see HB passes is when we are trying to sneak in a big gain...and if it goes properly Ricky wouldnt be throwing it in any kind of a tight window. Drawing that up on first and goal is simply unimaginable.
Awful 4th quarter defense the whole season combined with Henning's play call and Nate Garner's false start took 10 points off the board today. I fear the cupboard is too bare for any kind of run the rest of the way boys. Stranger things have happened but 5 wins in a row with this coaching staff is impossible - and yes, even Sparano's lost some of his shine in my book.
You are BLOWING then off the line of scrimmage..you are gashing them with big ruins...the Bills are reeling..Ricky is running downhill...and the thought that pops in your head is for Ricky to throw the ball? He has been getting so cute with his play calls the last few weeks..and luckily got away with it. Today was just such a tone setter...it FOREVER changed the shape of the game.
that bull$hit pass call set the tone for the rest of the game. It should have been Ricky and Lex pounding down their throats the entire game.
What we are not allergic to is the play action pass on 3rd and long. What in Gods name is that? They are down 14..they run play action...its 3rd and 15...we run play action? Why?
Was wondering the same damn thing, and didn't we use the shotgun earlier this year? Could have sworn we did.
and threw an int out of the WC today on the 3 yard line........which ruined momentum and imo changed the game
Some badly timed gadget plays today. Trickery is great when you are a bad team playing a brtter opponent, but as we have improved, we should have ONLY used tirckery when down, not while dominating a team easily out of our base offense. Henning called a poor game. sorry, Dan.
You bet That was a dumb call Rick was killing them down the field Stupid call We agree on something finally SICK
That play is why we were embarrassed as opposed to being the ones doing the embarrassing. Nothing will change my mind about that. Call for a pass over the middle from Ricky? Is Henning senile?
It's great when used properly, not when it's used by the OC as a crutch and an outlet to get cute in situations that do not call for it. I just hate knowing every time we line up in the wildcat that it will be effective 50% of the time against bad defenses, and 0% of the time against good defenses. And Henning will call a head scratcher out of it at least 20% of the time.
That play call with Ricky throwing the ball...had me in heart attack mode the rest of the game. I lost it!. I just could not believe it even hours after it happened!
We over used Ricky too early IMO anyway Should have seen more Hilliard in the first half We were counting carries and it got behind us We should have saved Ricky for the fourth QTR
I agree that it was a bad play call, but it didn't change the momentum of the game, it was the first drive. It cost us points though. We did have the lead twice after that so it didn't change the momentum.
I just think it would have set such a MAJOR tone in the game. The Bills got a huge energy jump by it and they would have been playing catch up the rest of the game.
Ram it down the Bills throat there it is a different day Henning needs to be shot for calling that. Draft read it all the way. Ricky hasn't completed a pass since 2000 Run the ball
i greatly disagree......we score there, they miss the FG....we score with hartline then we are up 14-0 and they start hating themselves, we force fitzy to throw more.......more sacks, we are pumped, more turnovers? who knows.....imo that completley changed the game....cause everytime we or they scored i said to myself "should be 14-3.......should be 21-7....etc etc" and i know they were thinking the same thing
Yes, the INT was as stupid as everyone says. And yes, it's on Henne/Sparano, not Ricky -- you put the ball in an RB's hands at the goal line and tell him to throw, you're asking for it. That said, people are getting carried away bashing it. "Change the tone"? I'm sorry, the Phins have lots of highly paid professionals. You don't play a crappy game because of a single stupid call in the first quarter. The other call I really didn't like was the bomb to Ginn on first down from our two in the 4th quarter. But I assume that was on Henne. Also, lest anyone forget, we use gimmicks because we're short on talent. We've lost our starting QB and RB and our OL is a casualty ward. Yeah, we were blowing them off the ball in the first quarter, but after that we were spotty running the ball. Ricky looked completely gassed at times during the long drive in the third quarter. Lest I be misunderstood, NONE OF THIS EXCUSES THE STUPID CALL FOR RW TO THROW ON THAT FIRST DRIVE. But we use gimmicks for a reason. Oh, and Ted Ginn sucks.
It's not Sparano's job to micromanage the offensive play-calling. It is his job to recognize that there's a problem and make a change if the guy who is in charge isn't doing his job though. I did see Sparano with the play chart in his hands a lot in the second half, not something he normally does if I remember correctly. Has he lost faith like the rest of us?
They WERE playing catchup the rest of the game. 17-14 was the Bills' first lead. But every time we scored a TD, our defense immediately gave one up. The D could not have looked worse on the Buffalo drive that followed our third-quarter drive. What was especially maddening was that they played like they were exhausted, constantly getting beaten to the corner, even though they'd just had halftime + the first nine minutes of the third quarter off.
Disagree, I have no problem taking a shot when you are buried down there Unfortunately it was slightly under thrown.
