"Fire Ireland! Cut Long! Cut Smith! Cut Bush! We suck! We are exposed!! We won't win another game!!" This is what this website looks like after a loss. RELAX!!!! We are moving in the right direction. We have our franchise QB and with a couple of tweaks we are contending. The plan is being executed. Please refrain from posting stupid stuff like this. Thanks!
Some people just want to be irritated about a loss for a little bit without others pushing pom poms in their face. It's their right.
I wouldn't cut Long but I certainly wouldn't waste cap room by giving him a mega sized contract for playing above average.
People should type all their pissed off thoughts after a game into a Word Document then click the X button when they're done. I don't want to read their venting on the forum.
I don't think people are being overly crazy. And I really only see any negativity directed at re-signing Jake Long to a big $$ contract, which is absolutely right. There is some towards Smith, though he shouldn't be the CB we rely on, we just have to ride that out for now. Everyone knows we need a real #1 CB, but we just have to wait. As for Ireland, that is not going to go away anytime soon. Beating mediocre teams won't change anyone's mind that he can give this team the talent it needs in 2013. That is nothing new.
Then click the X on your internet browser. Watching sports is a personal experience and it's not your right to judge people on how they react after losses. Feel free to start up your own web forum and ban people who lack the perspective you'd like to see.
that's why I try to limit my outbursts to the game day forum. these are my initial reactions that tend to involve a lot of four letter words.
You go on a web forum to talk about sports with strangers. Watching people here try to control the personalities of others and then complain when they can't is slightly on the ridiculous side. Some people will be mad and some people will be mellow. That's just how it is. I even read a post a few minutes ago admonishing people who were irritated suggesting that they don't know how to handle adversity in their normal lives. The thing is is that sports fandom is not comparable to anything else in life. People can spit and cuss and throw things after their favorite team blows it but be Joe Cool when things go wrong at home or work. You see it all the time.
I stand behind the do not re-sign Jake Long thread. His play has regressed each year he's been in the league. He's getting false start and holding penalties this year. Going back to last year he can't handle the upper tier of pass rushers. He's not getting push in the run game this year. He's simply not worth the salary he will command.
Best. Post. Ever. Well said. That's basically the case everywhere on the internet. Reading YouTube comments, for example, can literally cost you brain cells. That's why I've basically stopped reading comments below videos or articles. Because it happens all the time. A forum is different though, because you know most of the people there. Not in person, but from various conversations.
Nobody likes being brow beaten and having the obvious explained to them. This forum argues, but it argues well.
