I have drop planes and helicopters flying over our house to put out fires on Camp Pendleton. We can see the fire from our back yard. Not looking to good right now. We are supposed to have high winds this weekend due to Santa Ana winds. Hopefully they can stay on top of the fires as they happen, and we don't have too many this fire season.
It's been really hot and dry for most of the week. The winds havent picked up too badly, but they're starting to blow. Hate the Santa Ana winds.
Bro the tankers are still buzzing over my house, so this one is not good. Hopefully they can get a handle on it. As many fires as we have had here, there is still a lot of area that haven't burned for 30 years or more.
It seems like that bro. They are really concerned about this weekend, and weekend, due to the really dry conditions and the Santa Ana winds.
i lived in so. cal for 59 years. i know when 1 fire starts by accident it lights a fire under the butts of 2 dozen nuts. i was there for the worst one. had tickets for a MNF game with the Dolphins/Chargers and had to go to Phoenix to see the game. paid $520 for 4 tickets and when we got there the game was free!
Dude. That is crazy crazy news. Whats up, I figured the entire state had already burned. Hunker down and stay safe. Always have a couch for you if you need it. Just bring beer....no Coors light either....
Kinda dusty too. It's been blowing slightly and all the construction dirt is getting all over the place.
Multiple big tankers flying right now. They are trying to get some of the fire controlled before night fall. The fire is getting worse. Updated pics.
Maybe you guys & gals down south will get lucky and it will start to rain soon. I hope and pray we don't have another fire season like last year. here in no cal, we had some rain & snow (10,000 ft) last weekend, and it's supposed to rain and snow again this sat. thoughts are with ya.
Thats scary stuff I know bro. I lived through a few growing up as well. Having the entire landscape GLOW just miles away really really sucks. Pendleton huh. So that means in the direction of Legoland? Really hope all is well my brother.....
Wow bro, prayers are in the works for you guys, and I hope for Godspeed in getting those fires out. Just as hurricane season is ending for us, this is starting for you. Seems there is always something going on !
Los Angeles has burned 11 square miles worth, and we are on fire on Camp Pendleton again. This fire is closer to us. Waiting to see if we get the reverse 911 call to evacuate if it gets worse and heads towards us. It is 82 degrees with 6% humidity, with Santa Ana winds blowing at 15-20 mph right now. They are expecting stronger winds tonight which is not good. Our fire started at 4:00pm, and they have the super scoopers bringing water from the ocean to fire right now. They can only fly until dusk. They have about another hour or so that they can fly. When the humidity gets under 10% it is really bad conditions for fires to start. Fire fighters like to at least have 20% humidity. Sorry for the ramblings. Here are some photos I just took.
Thanks bro, they will come in handy on this one. This is the closest a fire has gotten to us yet. There was a resident that was on the news and said the flames were 30 feet high, and jumping the fire break.
We are fine now. The winds are gusting up to 25 mph right now. They will get stronger tonight, and with that is ambers flying in the wind and possibly catching houses on fire.
FFIC that is too close for comfort. Make plans for evacuation just in case you need to go. My prayers are with you, and your family. That is indeed stressful, just like it is with us and these hurricanes we have lurking all the time.
We are ready to go if need be. Hopefully they can get the aircraft back in the air here shortly and put it out.
Brush Fire Tears Across Camp Pendleton, Forcing Evacuations - San Diego 6 There is better pics and it will show a good map. I am slightly south of the 76 freeway, and right next to Vista to the west.
