We officially have Olivier Vernon as the 1st string defensive end with Jared Odrick as a backup defensive tackle.

    Bravo.

Now on the other hand they've labeled Cam Wake a RIGHT defensive end and Olivier Vernon a LEFT defensive end. Which is weird. But these initial depth charts are always somewhat confusing.

They always are kind of strange...very harsh on the rookies and I feel inaccurate as far as camp reports go to....we've heard Will Davis' name a lot more than many of the other players ahead of him

You can't read too much into the rankings this early, especially for the rookies who will always have to work their way up past guys who contributed last season. The positions are interesting though, Odrick's move to DT seems permanent thank god. Also interesting that Jordan is listed as a DE, no doubt he'll play there some but ill be surprised if he's lined up there more than half the time.

John Jerry is the starter even though he hasn't practiced in a while.............
If the love Yeatman so much why is he STILL third string?
Lance Louis hasn't practiced at all and he is second string.

This looks like having a depth chart, just to have a depth chart.

Means nothing. Maybe a wake up psychology wise to certain players but its nothing to warrant any serious debate.

I think it's better to view RDE as an Open End and LDE as a Closed End spot, just based on who is where.

In just about every picture and video from camp, Wake has been on the left as he was last year.

Dion Sims as fifth listed TE. LOL. Secret weapon, more like. The kid runs with the 1st team most days.

Further proof that coaches like to give the league the finger when it comes to mandatory depth charts.

Vaughn Martin miscast as a DE imo. Dion Jordan listed as a DE. HOpe he does a lot of two point stance on passing downs too.

Pretty sure Will Davis is last cb on the depth chart. I think it goes down and then back left once they reach the end of the page.

I think once you get to the 4th string there is no ordering, just ties.

Rookies always put behind veterans on first couple of depth charts.

    The only interesting notes:

    1. Olivier Vernon first string DE
    2. Jared Odrick tied with Randy Starks for first string DT
    3. Jeff Adams ahead of Will Yeatman at LT
    4. Vaughn Martin as a DE
    5. Brian Tyms as third string at one WR spot instead of among the swarm
    6. Michael Egnew holding off Kyle Miller at TE

Question: If we're running a lot of 2 Tight End sets, how active will the third tight end be?

Watch Coyle's presser from today. You'll like it.

I think Martin's more a DE when the want to present a bigger, 3-4 ish front.

I'd say this depth chart is about 4 days old. As IMO, Odrick is ahead of Starks. Patterson is ahead of Marshall. Will Davis is ahead of Stanford and Posey. Dion Sims is ahead of Egnew?
McNutt probably ahead of Tyms... just to name a few.

The rookies being listed behind the veterans has nothing to do with being 4 days old, 3 days old, 1 day old or up to the minute. It's a policy.

And I haven't seen any indication Odrick is ahead of Starks. There have been indications Patterson is working ahead of Marshall but that could be temporary.
