True story....
This morning iam listening to some talk radio, everrette brown coming up for an interview...
This is by no means any disrepect to everrette brown or his family, but the kid is not ready to speak to the media, could not articulate himself or complete a sentence. i felt bad for the kid.
For the past couple years ive been trying to figure out what has gone wrong in tallahasse, my conclusions over the past few years have have come to be correct. my thoughts about them and their demise was that they have given up on trying to find the smart athlete and have sold their soul by just recruiting athletes. I came to this conclusion because i have seen their program go down the tubes but yet they keep pumping out high draft picks.
So after i heard this interview, i texted my friend who is a seminole fan, that his team is a scam, sure enough 4 hours later, breaking news, FSU has been busted, big time academic violations, with a full 4 year probation exercised on the FSU college football program, loss of scholarships and the whole gammet...Their done and deservedly so.

hey they had a rhodes scholar!!!!! :shifty:

this happend a long time ago, so welcome. this is just the final punishment. and please dont put a kids interview who is just coming out of college as an example of anything. many athletes coming out are terrible at interviews. most these NFL players get interview training and such. was Ohio State doing the same thing? ever heard a Tedd Ginn interview?

how fair is it? its not fair, thats why we were punished for what happend....anything else?
and i dont understand how you knew there was something going on because our program wasnt winning national championships and we still had high draft picks. that makes no sense what so ever. -
As far as me not makin any sense, let me try.... its obvious to me, and i have gone on the record in saying, that the school let their academic standards slip and went strictly for the Athlete {my theory}..not worrying about chemistry or choosing smart football players, really not building a team of parts, just handing out scholarships to athletes who do not meet certain academic requirements relative to other schools, all in the effort to still compete [ya'll sold your soul}. The school continued to have players go as high in the draft as they ever have, but with no results in the win column to show, which, was all the evidence i needed for my own opinion to make sense, TO MYSELF..
Iam not speaking on anybody else behalf, this was just my hunch. Academic fraud are big words man. -
no it doesnt. because players were suspended becasue of this, so players WERE punished?
we have one of the best defenses in college football year after year, because of our inept offense is the reason for our lack of wins in the win column. dispite the win column(which btw, even though its not great, we did have all winning seasons and average over 8 wins the past 6 years) we have had high picks because of our defensive players. so if thats all the evidence you need, you must think this about A LOT of other programs. do you think the same for the Canes?muscle979 likes this. -

LOL, i just brought them up because i know without looking up theyve had a lot of high draft picks with not much success lately.
hell, what about Arkansas?unluckyluciano likes this. -
Its obvious to me that whoever has been giving out scholarships the past five years at that school could care less about the kids and only care about themselves.
Ya'll cheated, hardcore, take the hit. -
sorry nap if your feelin my anger, but i just hate that kids who are less fortunate, dont get the same oppurtunities as kids who gifted athletically, and it really bothers me when those kids abuse their blessings.PMZQ likes this. -
It wasn't fair, but it was a lesson in life. The 2 guys that didn't make it didn't do too badly though. One attended Miami-Dade Community College and then FIU and is now a Professor of English at Weber State in Utah and the other guy went into the Marines and is a Colonel just a few years from retirement. -
Will they go for reinstatement of the games so that Bobbah's win total goes back up, or will they try to get schollys back that will help the program more. It will be a test of exactly where the program is, and who is really running it. Bobbah's ego will be tested. :wink2: -

How wrong is this....A university targets an athlete, the athlete does not have the skills or study habits to enter a university on his own, {could be his own fault as well} the university does'nt care, gives him a scholarship, then assists the athlete in his studies unethically to keep him on the field... before the degree is achieved, the athlete declares for the NFL..
IT is disrepectful to humanity. -

There are two sides to this one, yes those players in various sports cheated, and did so blatantly, however the University itself also makes mountains of cash off those student/athletes.
Once USC got away with the Reggie Bush affair, let us not kid ourselves, this is business, almost a semi pro league for the NFL.
I see this stuff, then shake my head when comparing it to Jimmy V being fired at NC State because a couple of players sold excess shoes to purchase gifts with, today almost anything goes. -

There just seem to be certain schools that never seem to come under the eye of the NCAA and there is no need to state their names, I think we can all figure out which ones they are, but there is nothing that can be done about it. They have all the power, and they will never let anything get inbetween them and their money, even if it means a little bit of it is used to pay off the right people. Its just a business expense. -
Reggie Bush's mom ends up with a house and car bought by an agent, and the U ends up with a cover story in SI about disbanding the football program ala SMU.
Craig James and Eric Dickerson caused SMU to undergo the "death penalty" sanction from the NCAA for being paid roughly 350 and 500 dollars per game to play football at SMU, Reggie Bush ends up with a 100k house and 45k SUV and the whole thing goes away.PMZQ likes this. -
It does boil me when I see Craig James on college ball, and we all know he was dirty as they get. Who the hell is he to pontificate about anyone. He is as annoying as hell !padre31 likes this. -
It bothers me that media has some sort of effort going to discredit Miami Football, and they (we) are no better nor worse, yet because we are Miami, we're guilty, one and all, that pisses me off no end.
I'm not a Randy Shannon fan, but if he ever tried to pull the stuff Pete "you will play in a bowl game every year" Carrol has allowed, he would have been banned from the NCAA. -
Florida State is being exposed...
But if you ask me nearly every top level program gives the $500 handshakes and commit's multiple recruiting violations. Ohio State, USC, FSU, UF, U-Name It. It is a flawed system and there is too much money involved for it to ever change.
I remember when I was in high school I fell short of the academic eligability guess what....the baseball coach set up a meeting with my math teacher and the AD while I waited outside the office. Coach walked out and said your playing and the next day my grade was changed from a C to a B allowing me to play. The crookedness does not stop at the colliegate level.PMZQ likes this. -

Every college has its dark horses, or their little black secrets so to say. The U has been surrounded by scandal for yrs, and as of lately so has FSU. Once you open up the door to being investigated by the NCAA you open the flood gates. I can promise you UF, and alot more schools if the door was opened by the players doing stupid asinine things like the FSU players did, dirt would be found.

Its another way of showing the messed up priorities we have these days, that playing a ball game is more important than teaching the child that he needs to earn that right, and that its a priviledge to play ball, not a right.djphinfan likes this. -
Yes, I played without blinking. But when your a 15 year old kid you just wanna play.
But my laziness caught up to me when as soon as I got to college and became just another player, I basically just did not go to class opting instead to hang with every girl I could and stay up until 4am every day. I was in college for all of 1.5 semesters before I was shown the door.
When I was 18 I was very immature and honestly didnt care about anything. No I didnt think I could just get a free pass from my teachers again, I really just did not care.
Do I regret it now? Yea I do......I regret alot of things but at this point you just have to send a different message to your own children and take it as a lesson learned.PMZQ, djphinfan and my 2 cents like this. -
