http://www.footballnation.com/conte.../22063/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter I GM'd the Dolphins for this draft. You can see my pre-draft strategy piece here. This draft did not allow for trades, so it is what it is.
This is VERY cool. I love the pre-draft strategy so you can get an understanding of how a pick was made and the effect previous picks had versus just making assumptions on why someone took a player.
If history is any gauge Ireland has only once used a round 1-3 pick on a WR or TE and the sole pick was on Egnew last year. That would lead me to believe that our first choice will be an OL,DB or DE. BTW I am hoping that history does not repeat itself.
I don't think it is, because there has only been 2 seasons so far with Ireland being totally in charge. Not enough of a sample size to accurately predict a pattern to whom Ireland may draft.
I don't think history is any kind of gauge, for Ireland or almost anyone else. Parcells first year here the "historians" said Parcells would never draft an OL No. 1 overall. They said he didn't value OL that much and he loved pass rushers, so Chris Long would be the pick. The next year they said Parcells didn't value DBs so a CB would not be the pick in the first. Pat white certainly didn't match anything in Parcells' history. Ireland supposedly didn't value the QB position -- until he took one at No. 8. I'm not sure what history you are looking at for Ireland. He used 2 2nds on Brandon Marshall. He used a 3rd on Egnew. If his "history" goes back to Dallas, they used 1-3 round picks on Witten, Fasano, and Antonio Bryant.
Patrick Turner was a 3rd rounder. Technically he's used 2 2nd's as well since he traded for Marshall.
Can you list the picks before the jets who take olgletree at 9 Zoomer ?, wow, that's way too high for my blood.
