Lot's of rearranging this week. http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings 1 Florida (55) 4-0 1490 2 Texas (1) 4-0 1420 3 Alabama (4) 4-0 1400 4 LSU 4-0 1225 5 Boise State 4-0 1203 6 Virginia Tech 3-1 1190 7 USC 3-1 998 8 Oklahoma 2-1 979 9 Ohio State 3-1 957 10 Cincinnati 4-0 946 11 TCU 3-0 896 12 Houston 3-0 844 13 Iowa 4-0 788 14 Oklahoma State 3-1 591 15 Penn State 3-1 470 17 Miami (FL) 2-1 452 18 Kansas 4-0 418 18 Georgia 3-1 418 20 Brigham Young 3-1 349 21 Mississippi 2-1 340 22 Michigan 4-0 271 23 Nebraska 3-1 256 24 California 3-1 206 25 Georgia Tech 3-1 185
I doubt it. Neither plays a ranked opponent so it seems unlikely they'd get that much additional praise for winning. They'll narrow the gap by gaining some additional first place votes probably. It's an odd top 25, though. The way the season is going it's really hard to say who the 10/15 best teams are. Has LSU looked that good in a game yet? Seem like the next team due for a drop imo.
I didn't think so, but i haven't watched a full game. What we are seeing, IMO, is evidence that they are rating the teams several weeks too soon. Everything BUT play on the feild has determined where they are.
Yes, LSU has not really looked great. Their QB hasn't been very good, and the running game is just bad this year. Not sure if they are daring the QB to beat them or what, but if not for great WRs the offense would be very bad.
OK, my Gamecocks are 3-1, knocked off the number 4 team int he nation according to these very same pollsters, held Heisman hopeful Jevan Snead to 7-21-107, and they miss the top 25??? On a weekend when a bunch of top 25 teams lost? South Carolina is one play away from from being 4-0, a tipped pass on 4th and goal against UGA in that barnburner game a couple weeks ago. admittedly, we are not top 15 material at this point like Craig James said after the game thursday, but show me the quality wins of some of the teams in the top 25. frickin' polls... in all honesty, and after some reflection, i am kinda glad the Gamecocks are not ranked this week. hopefully it will motivate them further. we've got a gimme game against SC State this week, then back to the SEC grind, with Alabama looming.
The worst thing with the polls this year is that there are alot of good teams but not alot of greats teams. Alot of teams have major flaws. LSU vs Georgia and Oklahoma vs Miami should tell us alot.
Honestly, I wasn't too comfortable with Miami's quick entrance into the top 10. I don't think we were ready for the type of national attention and hype that comes with the territory. This is about right, and where we belong, IMO. 12-18 range for now. I'm pretty comfortable here. A win against Oklahoma and we probably shoot back up around 8-12, and I'd be fine with that... 3-1 against top 20 teams at the time of play is fantastic. I almost knew the top 10 would be short lived, though. I didn't see us winning @ Blacksburg at all.
Put it this way, Miss St. turned the ball over 4 times in the first half against them and the game still came down to the final play. LSU is the most overrated team in the Top 25.
While I would agree LSU is probably the most overranked team in the top 25, I don't know that they are the most overrated. When I see a certain team, at this point of the season, with 55/60 1st place votes I have to wonder if they aren't the most overrated right now.
