I am sure that sometime over the next decade, the Dolphins will eventually find a true #1 receiver. For now though, the player replacing Marshall in the starting lineup has been NaaNee. His zero catches last week, along with non attempt to break up the first interception Tannehill threw certainly leaves a lot to be desired from a player who was suppose to replace Marshall.

Of course Naanee did provide a good block on special teams. I just have to wonder how many starting WR's in the NFL are blockers on special teams in the NFL. The Dolphins basically replaced Marshall with a special teams player and an inactive player.

I was no big fan of Marshall, but the fact is that the Dolphins have failed miserably to fill his position on the team. The first of the two third round picks they received for him in the draft is so far not working out.
Egnew might eventually turn it around and Naaneee might eventually catch a pass. Right now though, it is hard to justify the trade of Marshall, based on the player added to the roster to fill his WR spot and picked in the draft with the first of the two third round picks they received from the Bears.

No one is arguing that he wasn't replaced. We are arguing that its not going to affect us all that much.

Most people had us winning 5 games this year before Marshall was traded and being in contention for Barkley.

You mean they failed to get a guy that can drop TD passes like Marshall can....he did it again last night... I think they took a shot with CJ and that didn't work. Nanee has only played one game and he doesn't look like much, but they still have the ammo in their pockets come draft day.... They didn't go out and make some sort of knee-jerk move for an almost is or once was WR... That could mean that they have a plan as to where they want to get the next great WR for this offense... We'll have to wait to see, but it's still a good thing that they didn't trade future pix for someone who was disgruntled at his old team and over pay for him...

That is exactly why I started this thread. All the hating on Ireland seems centered around the perceived trading of talent. I am pointing out that Marshall isn't as talented as they think. Throw in the fact that he is BPD and could any minute now be arrested for something, I totally understand the trade. What I don't understand is why we haven't replaced him...yet.

We didn't replace him yet because there's only so many moves you can make and we had more pressing holes to fill.

True, but I still don't get how you don't give a rookie QB as many weapons as possible. But I trust Philbin and Ireland have a plan.

They gave him a better oline, that was more important. Any receiver can get open if there's a enough time.

This is the best take on the Marshall trade IMO. And when I say best take, I mean this would be the only viable reason to trade him. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it's a lot better than the "LOL HE SUCKZ DROPPED TD LOL" crap. I guarantee that if Ireland had drafted Stephen Hill or signed a FA like Vincent Jackson you wouldn't hear many complaints about Marshall being traded.

You do know that NOBODY performs well against EVERY good opponent right?

If he had..he would have broken every single offensive record for receivers in the NFL.

The fact remains. He performed best versus the best teams. Can't spin it any other way.

I am sure he is sorry he didn't catch 2,200 yards worth of balls Fin-D.

Alls I know, he dropped 2 TD passes already this season....

Hes obviously a beast outside of the redzone. But he sucks *** inside of it. There is no denying it.

If we can go out and get Bowe this off season, then we basically upgraded at WR while getting two 3s.

This isn't the year to go to the superbowl, so as long as we can replace his production this offseason, I like trading Marshall...

I gave you a list of the best teams we played and he played well in three of them. That is not performing against the best. I'm not the one spinning anything here Section you are. You are taking facts and then spinning them with conditions and 2200 yard strawmen. Its silly. You can argue he was good, you cannot argue*he raised his game against better talent, cause he didn't really. Not even the majority of the time.

LOL. You actually left out the very best teams and his best performances. Then you accuse me of spinning. Where was his game versus the SUper Bowl champs and his game versus the AFC runner up? Where was his game versus Revis?

    One more time:

NOBODY performs well versus EVERY good team. You are the one that moved the goal posts and erected a strawman on it.

I never said that he performed well against EVERY good team. THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE. FOR ANYBODY.

I said that his best performances were against the BEST teams. THAT is a FACT. PERIOD.

Why couldn't we replace it this past offseason? I've got some potentially bad news for you; We're not going to the Super Bowl next year either, so there's no advantage in waiting to try and replace his production. If anything, it would've been more beneficial to do it this year so that Tannehill could have a #1 WR to throw to in his rookie season.

And "sucks" is a relative term. Does Brandon Marshall "suck" compared to other elite WR's or suck compared to the current talent on the Dolphins roster?

As for Marshall's place int eh NFL...there is only a handful of "ELITE" WR's.

Then there is the next tier. He is in that next tier.

BTW, I just noticed your bare standard for a "good game"...

and that game if duplicated 16 times would have Marshall with over 80 catches for 1,600 yards and 16 TD's.

    Completely reasonable.

Lol, we only played two games against good teams that year?

I said he played well against NE & Dallas. He split with the Jets cause the other game he played them he had nothing of note. What about his game against the Giants, you know the ones that won the SB.

The problem is I included everyone, you left off more than half the list because you know your stance is bull****.

Marshall is a scrub. Has all the physical talent, but none of the mental. He is the Michael Vick of WRs.

The problem for the Dolphins was not trading Marshall. I'm glad he is gone, he would never be more than an underachiever. The problem was, firstly getting him for 2 2nd rounders; secondly getting rid of him for 2 3rds after paying 2 2nds; and thirdly and most importantly, getting rid of him without an obvious replacement, leaving the team in a tough predicament.

This all falls on Ireland, not on Marshall who was never the answer and who would never be the #1 stud WR people hoped, wished, or think he is.

    What is wrong with you?

I said CLEARLY that his BEST performances came against the BEST teams. I NEVER said that he ALWAYS played great versus ALL good teams. NEVER. In fact, I made it clear that's impossible.

You knew that, and did this bull**** regardless.

And here comes the mock outrage.

Look if you personally want to believe a receiver who plays well against a small handful of good teams while disappearing for more than half the others is a great WR...then fine believe it all you want. Just don't come here expecting other people to buy it.
