You haven't seen bad quarterback play until you have seen this Miami Dolphin Veteran QB...

    View attachment 1084

He posted a completion percentage of 36.1% for the season, and was the starting quarterback.

How many of you remember him playing quarterback for George Wilson, Sr.?

    Raise your hands, now....

It must have been amazing to see them back then. No TV, radio or electricity, just hopping on the family T-Rex for the 10 day 3 mile trek, to see the birth of Miami Dolphin football with their helmets made of papyrus and footballs of chiseled granite. Since the color orange hadn't been invented yet, it must have been difficult to see the players through the sulfur smoke that billowed from the ground every time a tectonic plate shifted to create a new continent. But still seeing the game with your nomadic hunting tribe must have brought you all together and made you forget the trials of the day, like being stomped by a mammoth or falling off the edge of the world.

Ahhhh, the good old days. Its amazing you still remember them, Rev. :shifty:

Well, let me tell you about riding alligators to school in Belle Glade. That was a real tale!

One of the greatest names in Professional Sports History. Ever wonder how the name Dick became short for Richard? It really makes no sense, except that it does.

That was a poor year, but it sure was fun...watching TC from Biscayne College...the OB was a great stadium for football, not so antiseptic like JRS. You came there to watch football and cheer on your team...not to lounge around...

My favorite player was Yahoo McD...not even a starter...just crazy...But back OT, yeah, Wood was not a very good QB for us (or anyone else)...that was poor QB play...

Wood only started 4 games for us that year. George Wilson Jr, the coach's son, started the most, with 7. Wood had the distinction of being the Jets starting QB preceding Joe Willie Namath. Wood may have had the lowest comp pct amongst the 4 QBs who started games that year, but Rick Norton had the lowest QB rating with 27. Wood had a lofty 30.6 rating and Wilson Jr was all the way up at 42.4

Many if not most modern day Richards go by Rick, instead of Dick, which makes more sense. Those Ricks get downright upset if you call them Dick instead.

Dick Wood's full name was Malcolm Richard Wood. Somehow I think had that been my name, I'd have gone by Mal or Malcolm. I'd have kept the Dick put away and only mentioned it in private.

Dick Wood is not close to the most undesirable name for a sports figure though. I believe that distinction goes to NASCAR driver Dick Trickle.
