Been awhile since the last 'Mustang' post http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/13/ford-mustang-boss-302-is-back-for-2012/ sounds good to me
I've not been a fan of Mustangs for a while, but the new GTs are sweet, and the Boss looks insanely awesome.
I'm not huge on American cars, but I've been considering purchasing an 06 Corvette for a while now. New Mustang might beat it out for me though.
LOL....so not only are you slow as ****, you block everyone's view. Don't waste your money. Slower, doesn't handle as well, more expensive, less mpg, and HORRID blind spots when driving. Mustang vs. Mulletmobile Eh heh... 'Nuff said.
I want a 66 stang convertible. And a 62 corvette. not an american car dude either, unless it's a classic.
Ford's really been doing a fantastic job with their new cars. If this came out in 2009, I would have considered it. If you look at Ford for the past decade, their engines were outdated, cars were stale and designs were poor. The old V6 in the mustangs at 3.8 liters could get toasted by 4 cyls. The old 4.6 L v8 was a joke and was outclassed by impord V6s. "adjustable suspension"..... does it come with coilovers stock? That would be fantastic. I wish they had projectors as stock headlights and got rid of the amber reflectors in the headlights...... but Im pretty sure you can get aftermarkets pretty cheap to replace them.
I don't know about that bro. The 4.6 in my year was pretty much made specifically to be modded so easily that it wasn't funny. A simple bolt-on blower and I more than doubled my horsepower with stock internals. Not too many engines will allow that. And I'd love to see how many naturally aspirated imports in that price range "outclassed" it.
I'm not a fan. I liked the 90's Cams with the Corvette engine, but this new one doesn't do it for me. If I were one of the people that waited an eternity for them to finally come out with a new Camaro, and this is what I got, I'd be pissed. You may as well get a Mustang GT.
No rant at all. While I love the old school musclecars, and owned a few, they can't compare to the new school ones. That's just fact. New musclecars are faster, handle better, get better mileage, and last longer.
I was talking about the old 2 valve V8 260 hp one that maybe ran to 2004ish. The Acura CL type S was also running at 260 hp....... only it was a teenie weenie V6 3.2L engine. Ford was about a decade behind in technology. And how about the Honda S2000. A 2.4L putting out 240hp. HALF the size of the engine, but only 20 hp less. Both similar pricepoints. But even still, the newer one which I think was 2005- present was 300/320 and wasnt that impressive. The 3.7L V6 in my G37 (and in the 370Z) is 330/270. Almost a full liter smaller in displacement. And there are guys running TT setups with stock internals at double WHP also. Although I dont consider the ability to put on an intake and a tune and gain 25 hp a good thing. If a company left that many WHP on the table, its a ****ty design. Heck, my WIFES 2006 RAV4 puts down 270 hp through a 3.5L v6. Compare that to their 2 valve 4.6L v8 putting down 260 or their 2005+ 4.0L V6 which put down 210hp. Sad. For the past decade, Ford's been WAY behind in the technology...... until now. The 2011 V6 and V8 specs are spot on with the top of the market. I love their new stuff and if they throw the EcoBoost in a small SUV, I'd grab one of them to replace the RAV4.
I always thought the American cars underpowered their engines so they'd last longer since they shouldn't have to work as hard. The 3.8L that Pontiac put in the Grand Prix and Chevy put in the Monte Carlo only put out like 180 hp. for funsies I just found this http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests...stang_gt_vs_2011_bmw_m3_comparison/index.html 2011 BMW M3 vs. 2011 Mustang GT..... who will win? This is defintely worth the watch and I'm a huge BMW fan
Jesus that article is an effin joke. The Stang beat the M3 in pretty much every test, and tied it in 2 others, yet they declare the BMW the winner. Are you kidding me?
yeah, the guy who wrote the article is a tool. did you watch the video? the test driver called the Mustang the winner since it is $25K cheaper The video is more unbiased with the test driver really praising everything about the 'stang.
That shocks the hell out of me, never thought I'd see the day they could compare a Stang to a Beemer. Kudos to Ford on this one. Don't tell my wife, but I'm actually considering trading in my '06 for a 5.0 and starting over with the modding process. She'll KILL me.
I just came on here to post the article for Pagan. Specwise, anyone who reads the article should come away very impressed with the new stang. And if they have the same exact specs, you give the win to the one that cost 27k less. Their big complaint was with the suspension. Give me a break. With 27k, you can EASILY put a set of KWv3 or racing coilovers on it and that would negate their concern and the stang would win. Not to mention it comes with a better warranty and better gas mileage. I wouldnt blame you for wanting to sell your older stang and start over. If I just didnt buy a new car 2 years ago, Id be waiting in line for one of these.
Exactly right Philt...take that extra $27K and sink it into the Stang, and it will not only beat the M3, but beat it within an inch of it's life. I might wait until next year bro. Rumors are swirling that the 2012 GT500 will feature a TVS blower and 650 horse off the showroom floor.
