. ''Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State. It has been well chronicled that his age, 28, is a negative. This would influence my draft thinking and probably move him to the third round. When I watched tape of him, he played like a first-rounder. He plays in a spread offense. He has a smooth and fairly quick release. He has a strong enough arm and throws a very good deep ball with a nice touch. He also is very good at throwing the fade in the red zone. His accuracy is good, but he can be streaky. He shows good field vision and an ability to find the second receiver. I liked his poise. He is not very mobile and is not a threat as a runner. Should be a solid backup in the NFL.''
wow..''third round..solid backup''..
''''Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M. He has only been the starting QB for the past year and half. I like him. He is very athletic. He can make plays running and passing the ball outside the pocket. He has a strong enough arm to throw the deep out, which is a measuring stick for me. He has played in a pro-style offense and operated behind center quite a bit, which puts him ahead of many college QBs. Despite his inexperience at the QB position he has shown me the ability to go through a progression of reading a defense. I have seen him on a number of occasions get to his second or third option. His accuracy is above average. I like his ability to throw deep. He needs some work on his ball placement with receivers even though I like his accuracy. At times, he pats the ball before he throws it. This telegraphs his throws. I did not see him make many "wow" throws, but it is possible I might not have seen the right games. Joe Flacco went No. 18 and Josh Freeman went No. 17 in the first round. I liked both of those QBs coming out, but I would rate Tannehill ahead of them.''

IMO, if Weeden were 22, instead of 28, the Redskins probably just traded up for him and not RGIII, just my opinion, but I think Weeden, if not for his age, is a better prospect than Griffin III. I think Miami is fine, from a football perspective, if they get either Tannehill or Weeden. Based on some of the banter on this board, Stephen Ross is going to have a tough time selling Tannehill or Weeden to the masses.djphinfan likes this. -
For the 1st round, if Miami doesn't have Matt Flynn (or Peyton Manning), then I think Tannehill is the pick. I'm perfectly okay with that. If I were GM, I'd also consider Fletcher Cox, Dontari Poe, and Quinton Coples at 8. If Tannehill is off the board, then take one of those three and move back into round 1 for Weeden.
Right now, I guess my dream draft would be based off free agency. If Miami signs Mario Williams, then I'd want Tannehill at 8 and maybe hope/pray that someone like Coby Fleener or Mark Barron drops to Miami's pick in the 2nd round. If Miami ends up with Flynn, then I'd want one of the three between Cox, Coples, or Poe, and still hope and pray that Fleener and/or Barron fall, and I'd also consider guys like Kevin Zeitler, Kendall Reyes, Jerel Worthy, maybe Ta'amu Alameda (I probably butchered that spelling, but the big DT from Washington).
That's my two cents...I just wish Tuesday would hurry up and get here. And of course, my boss has me taking his place at a meeting until 7:30pm EST, so now I have to wait even longer for the fun to begin...
What's your take on the draft DJ? I think I've seen you banging the drum for Fleener as well.Anonymous likes this. -

Well Ro, Seeing that were switching to the 43, I'am looking for a true middle linebacker, now I believe Dansby can play it, but do I really want him to spend these next few years on the inside taking a pounding?, or do I want him on the outside using his instincts and playmaking ability..I choose the latter, so there are a couple of scenarios in play pending what QB we aquire, if it's Flynn, I'am looking at the total package Luke Kuechly, with his combination of instincts, brilliant footwork in traffic, size, rare coverage ability and damn nice athleticism and speed, I take him and put Dansby and Burnett on the outside, with Misi backing up all three positions {I think Misi has some middle backer potential}.This particular strategy continues by trying to get back into the first round to select Coby Fleener, cause I know he's not gonna last..I absolutely was in love with Gronkowski and said that we would consider him the best in the league in a few years, Coby is a player that I feel can have similar impact, I think he is a unique player because of his Size to speed/athleticism ratio, he's truly a gracefully explosive football player, so I would make a move back in the late first to aquire him, thus getting two players best at their positions..I really want two first round talents on this ballclub this year if I can..
The contingency plan with that 2nd pick is Dwayne Allen, one of the few players where I could care less what he did in his underwear, if other GM'S care, then that's their bad and our gain..He's really an excellent backup plan to Fleener, though different skillset, I'd like to match his value up at that early 2nd round pick with the other best players at their positions that would be available, I think Dwayne might win that comparison.. -

There's a reason Charlie Caserly is a FORMER general manager. Bill Belichick is not a guy who badmouths anyone or breaks his stoic demeanor often but he did break it one time to basically say, talk to people around the league, Charlie Casserly is a joke.

Well personally I rather like Casserly's take on players, but also know at the end of the day teams will do what they do.
