Running back Arian Foster didn’t sign with the Dolphins until just before the start of training camp, but he didn’t need an entire offseason with the team to head into the regular season as their starting running back. Foster has been installed as the No. 1 back on the depth chart, something that may have come as a surprise to some people because he’s coming off a torn Achilles and turned 30 this year. Foster doesn’t see anything that remarkable about his return to the top of a depth chart, however.
“I wasn’t dead,” Foster said, via ESPN.com. “I had an injury. I’ve bounced back before. … You hear all the geniuses say that is what’s supposed to happen at 30. I feel like if you take care of your body and you train like I train, you should be able to do good things.”
Foster did bounce back from missing half the 2013 season to turn in 1,246 yards and 13 total touchdowns for the Texas in 2014. Those totals would make for a lot of smiles in Miami and provide balance to the offense that’s been missing in Miami in recent seasons.Better offensive line play would help in that regard and the Dolphins hope starting Laremy Tunsil and Jermon Bushrod at guard will provide it, although it’s unclear when center Mike Pouncey will be ready to go because of a hip injury.

Look, the Dolphins don't have the best run-blocking line in the league. We know that. But what Miami needs is a RB that can at least make sure he's getting all of what is there to be had. Maybe the team isn't going to get 15- and 20-yard chunks but a RB that can at least recognize when and where to cut back and how to use his blockers is something that could be very valuable. I don't trust Ajayi's vision right now so Foster just being a solid dude this year would be nice.

Neither Ajayi nor Drake run with patience. At least he's not going to plow into our linemen.

I just don't agree with this. All RBs need some form of good blocking. It doesn't have to be perfect but having the defensive line in your face upon handoff is not something many RBs can make lemonade out of.

Moreno had some damn good run blocking on a lot of his touches. There were a few plays where he escaped pressure in the back field but for the most part he wasn't touched until he was past the line of scrimmage.

Moreno had zero patience and beat up our own linemen. What made him great also gave Albert that hyperextension of his elbow. He's the samurai who injures his own while practicing. Eventually his style did himself in. I only saw glimpses of him in Denver and he didn't seem to run with such reckless abandon. It just seemed as though he had ants in his pants when he was a fin.

I think the young Arian Foster is dead.
We are getting a veteran saavy, mistake free running back, who could produce solidly, especially in the pass game and helping protect Tannehill.
But I'm not expecting him to run through a lot of tackles or leave many players in his dust.Rock Sexton likes this. -
With decent run blocking at least... I think Arian will surprise a lot of people.

Yep and we saw this today. Pleasantly surprised by him against one of the League's fastest defenses. He's not a game-changer or a huge plus, but veteran guys who know what the hell they're doing can get the job done...who knew.
Fingers crossed he can stay healthy and in form as the season grinds on. It'd be nice if we had a backup who was worthy of more touches to take the load off him.
