In a move rarely seen, the Carolina Panthers are giving John Fox the option to void the final year of his contract if he so chooses. Why a team would just hang a coach out to dry like that instead of firing him, I dont know. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4813290
Basically, the Panthers dont want to fire him outright. They are hoping maybe another team dumps a coach that Fox might interested in going to - especially knowing anything short of the playoffs (and likely a win) will be needed to continue in Carolina. Unusual, but an interesting move.
