PFT guessed a conditional 3rd...
this could be good or bad. favre is better than pennington that's for sure. but really, for us, this is good. we aren't going to compete this year, but the jets are trying to win now. so hopefully they'll blow their picks, and in 2010 (our target year) their old veterans will be on the downhill and we'll be able to take over!!! mwahaha -
This blows anyone who tries to put a positive spin on this is really reaching.

This is awesome. I hope it blows up in the Jets faces. I hope Favre tries to dictate their offensive system. I hope they regret bringing him in. I hope he destroys their locker room.
And more than anything.... I hope we beat the living daylights out of him week 1, and during his last game as a pro in week 17.PMZQ likes this. -
ugh....this sucks.....I really like Favre....I cant cheer for him. :pity:

JUST END THIS SAGA!!!!!!!!!!King Felix, PMZQ, GISH and 1 other person like this. -
this is from my housemate jet fan:
favre playing like last year, i dont see many big holes on our team
our line backers are beastly
jenkins clogging the hole
new oline
coles cotchery keller and baker
revis has been a beasty
tj able to run again
richardson blocking for him
im pumped haha
to which i responded: yea well you better win in the next 2 years or else you f*&ed, and he said "yea well they did put us down that path in FA anyway"
so good for them. the jets try to win in the next 2 years, and will fail, bc the pats will still be good- and our target year, 2010, will be for US. the fins and bills are on the rise, and in a couple years the jets and pats will be the bottom again. funny how things turn around every so often -
-
The Jets have really mortgaged everything they have into this season... they are this year's Washington Redskins... I think he does make them better, but they aren't better than the Pats, so they are playing for one of two wildcards... likely the LAST wildcard as the loser between Indy and Jax gets the top wildcard spot. That leaves teams like Cleveland/Pittsburgh, Houston, Denver and Buffalo vying for that last playoff slot. I dunno...
-
Unless they lost a 1st its BAD.
Its like saying "Hey! Peyton Manning just got traded to the Bills! But thats GOOD for us.....Really!"
 -
The Jets should have given up at least a #2 pick for Favre.
We've all seen these all star teams before.... -
Oh and the Fins get to play the Jets in week 1. Yay.
/sarcasm] -
two things as to why the Jets beat out the Bucs... sounds like they were willing to offer more in compensation to the Packers (going as high as a first round pick on conditions yet to be disclosed, love to know what they are) and Jets were willing to pay Favre more than the Bucs... hey, they won, congrats... now they can release Pennington and in a few weeks Favre can re-retire again, LMAO...

Yeah! Cuz, like its great that he can go ahead and shred us because we are supposed to suck this year anyway.
/sarcasm off
/BEGIN rant:angry:
I am sorry but this is bull.
I fully expect to Win this year like I did last year and every year I have been a fan.
I dont care if we bring in 52 new guys.
yeah, I am realistic in that they need to gel. But the fact is that this makes 2 games against the Jets this year that much harder and if we are in playoff contention then this will make it harder for us this year.
Down the line? I'll worry about that later. I might be DEAD by next season (knock on wood, but hey anything can happen to anyone at anytime)
So for THIS SEASON its bad for the Dolphins and I think it sucks. /end rant :up:PMZQ, Jaydog57, Brown42000 and 1 other person like this. -
I want to see the Fins win this year and this hurts those chances so I'm not happy about this.Jaydog57, Brown42000 and TheMageGandalf like this. -
No matter what has happened the previous year, the number of new players on the team and having rookies starting at key positions I expect them win. Not go out this season and suck again. Last year I expected them to win and faithfully watched through the whole season.
But people on this board think this trade is a good thing because Miami should suck anyway and will hurt the Jets in the longrun.:rolleyes:Jaydog57, sking29 and TheMageGandalf like this. -
You guys getting upset over this are nuts... sorry... just calling it as I see it... the Dolphins can only control what THEY do... they can't control what the Jets, Patriots, er, USA Dream Basketball, Girls' Scouts All Stars DO. Now, the Jets are in cap hell, will release Pennington (a guy who played very well against us) and who could likely end up in Miami (we could release McCown), and will be bottom feeders in two years. As Dolfans, we all want them to WIN, but lets be realistic, they were 200 to 1 to win the Super Bowl for a reason...

Also Adam Schefter just confirmed on NFL Network that Favre "will" report to Jets camp. So it is official. -
Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?
Favre is going to be incredible in this offense he doesn't know, working behind this line he doesn't know, and working with RBs and receivers he doesn't know.
I fully expect that the 'Phins will now be blown out each and every time they play the Jets.
Yeah, that sounds better. :pity:
I still fully expect our team to fight it out every ****ing game. I have no doubt that they will.
But, if any of you truly believe that the 'Phins have already lost to the Jets because they added one player, why are you even going to watch the games?
Answer: Because they're OUR Phins! I don't care how bad they suck this year just like I didn't care how bad they sucked last year because I'm going to be here rooting for them to win every game.
Even when they have to face the great and powerful Favre. :wink2:slickj101 likes this. -

LMAO... Mort just reported the Jets are now on the phone talking to Favre just trying to EASE his mind!!! Sounds like Favre wanted to go to the Bucs, but that the Packers only wanted to deal with the Jets. Now, I'm sure he'll start liking the Jets in time, but still, how does THAT make you feel JETS FANS!!??!

Obviously Farve (I refuse to spell his name like I'm dyslexic) makes the Jets better and is an instant upgrade at QB. But I don't think it's as huge of a deal as some people are making it out to be. Whoever said it's like the Bills getting Manning? Hope you meant Eli.
I really believe that far is still nearly out of the league. Sure he had a good year last year. Solid WR core and OL and Grant emerging def helped. Where was Farve in 05-06? In de dumpster, lousy. I'm not convinced that he comes into this season and plays like he did when GB was heading into the playoffs.
He's playing in a weaker offense that he's going to have about 3-4 weeks to get used to. You can say that yea its a similiar system to an extent. But do you really think he's going to have the same chemistry with a new WR group that he had in GB? I don't, that chemistry he had there was a large part of his success and I know there's no way he duplicates that in 3-4 weeks.
Is Thomas Jones as good as Ryan Grant? I don't think he is. He seems like a big underachieved to me and I don't see that changing.
NY's whole offense hinges on Faneca imo. If he goes down or can't perform up to the huge payday that he cashed in, it won't be the kind of offense their hoping for.
As far as their D, a ton of questions there. We know all about Pace. But is he a one year wonder or not? We have no idea and won't know for awhile. Gholston is a beast but does he understand the playbook and how quick will he translate his skills to the NFL? I don't think he'll have it all together Week 1.
I'm not going to get into the rest of their D because I think our success over them rides on how well our OL can open up holes for R & R. I've got to think that our OL has a good chance to dominate early on. Worst case scenario, it's a back and forth battle. I really can't see one side completely destroying the other.
Overall, I'm not as concerned as a lot of people are with the Farve accuisition. This guy makes a lot of mistakes and is very vulnerable to getting smashed by pass-rushers (Which we do have and should be used properly this season!). I have faith that if we can get to him and make him force some throws, good things can happen.
Everyone knows I'm pretty realistic and def not a homer. I'm not reaching here, I genuinely believe that we can still take this game Week 1. The next game will be tougher IMO. But I know we can steal this first one.Colorado Dolfan likes this. -
I don't dislike this move because I think Favre to the Jets is going to hurt a run to the playoffs for us....
I just hate it because I hate to see Favre tarnish his legacy going to this dump of a team AND the incredible amounts of verbal diarrhea I'm going to have to hear from Jet fans now. -

Here are the details of the trade via Adam Schefter (no link yet):
Right now its a 4th round pick.
If he plays in 50% of Plays its a 3rd
If he plays in 70% of the plays and the Jets get into the Playoffs its a 2nd round pick.
If he plays in 80% of the plays and 50% of the plays in the playoffs and the Jets reach the Super Bowl its a 1st round pick. -
It just affects every Dolphin fan in S. Florida as all the New Yawkas will be in full loud mouth mode all season. -
