The franchise tag for each position is determined by the average of the top 5 contracts for that position which would be 9.6m for OL. However, that is only if 9.6m is higher than the players salary cap number the previous season + 20% increase. Long had a cap hit of 12.8m in 2012 (11.2 base salary + 1.6 cap hit from signing bonus) + 2.56m (12.8m * .2) = 15.36m.

We aren't doing the 120% rule but I'm not tagging Long so it doesn't really make a difference for me. We just didn't wanna go through every single UFA's 2012 salary when it likely affects maybe 2-3 players. If you want to do that work though... feel free and we'll be sure to make the necessary changes.
