I fully understand where LB is coming from. It doesn't make sense, however, because I've been talking about specific positions the whole time and been very clear about it, so I'm not sure why he'd change it up.

That's how you address those positions if you plan on being mediocre.

Not really. The TE position is highly valued, but still lags in terms of dollar figures.

Lol, those are the solutions already in hand.

We still have money to spend in FA and 5 of the first 82 picks

You're defining the concept of highly valued on itself. There are discrete measures of how players at positions are valued. Very literal measures (draft position, contract values). What is the source of the disconnect? Why does the NFL agree with you that those positions are highly valued relative to the other positions, yet they neither draft them higher nor pay them better?

The Dolphins are reportedly interested in Dwight Freeney

    http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1517/dwight-freeney
I'm pretty surprised they haven't kicked the tires on James Harrison yet. Maybe they're not that interested in his kind of crazy, but I think schematically he'd be a quite good fit.

There is no consensus. Some do, some don't. I thought that Ditka and Wanny were foolish and out of date when they paid so much for RW. They still valued the RB position highly, not everybody agreed. I recall Walsh being criticized for taking Lott, a S, high in 1981. Walsh stated that S was one of the premium impact positions along with QB and pass rusher. TE is still the lowest franchise tag, yet many are starting to realize that it is a high impact position. CB is a position which many GMs will still claim is a premium position, yet I have heard some rumblings that it is losing value. I think that those still valuing the CB position highly are out of date. IMO the track record of how teams that sign the top CB each year is telling. I expect that more people will come to the same conclusion in time.

Mentioned we should do this weeks ago over Abraham, Freeny is only 33, and is the better player and rusher.

Path to Draft guys are now saying Eifert could go at 13 or 14. Even though many of them projected him later they think he could be justified that high.

Freeney is not a better player or pass rusher than Abraham.

I disagree. He was drafted as the contingency plan for the departure of Long in free agency the following year, and to become the left tackle from that point forward if Long left. Not saying it was a good plan, but I believe Long's status factored into the decision to draft Martin.

I agree that Martin was always better suited to be a LT. He needed/s to improve his strength, but he was never going to be the mauler type that stereotypically inhabits the right. He's a smart guy with good feet and adequate strength (in college). I see him as a guy who will fit somewhere between Joe Staley and Matt Light.

Don't know if he's ever played right tackle in the NFL since he's been in the league.

Gifted left tackle though, when his mind is right.

There is as much evidence of it, as there is in your saying Martin wasn't drafted to ever be a left tackle.

Not true. Jeff Ireland stated directly...DIRECTLY...that Jon Martin is here to be a right tackle. In fact one writer took some license in an article speculating that Martin was here as insurance at left tackle in case Jake Long leaves and the next time Jeff Ireland got in front of the reporters to speak about the next day's haul of draft picks, he started out (unbidden, totally Mike Gundy style) by bringing up that one little line of speculation from that one little article and saying this is patently incorrect, Jon Martin is here to play right tackle for the Miami Dolphins.

Sooo...yeah. There is a pretty big piece of evidence that Jon Martin was drafted to play right tackle for the Miami Dolphins. And no evidence whatsoever that he was drafted with the goal of him eventually playing left tackle.

There's a difference between saying, "I disagree. I think he may have been drafted as the contingency plan..." and saying "I disagree. He was drafted as the contingency plan..."

In the latter, you're not stating an opinion. You're trying to state a fact. For which there is literally zero evidence.

It would be really strange and uncharacteristic for an NFL personnel guy to not be upfront about his plans or not say anything to effect upcoming negotiations.

I didn't say it was irrefutable evidence. Sure, you can speculate he was lying (based on nothing in particular, except pure convenience to your argument). That's your choice. But it is evidence, nonetheless.

It's not evidence, it's a thing someone said in a business where that frequently means nothing. There's no evidence either way, and I'm not sure in what the point is other than trying to twist minutiae into more Jeff Ireland bull****.

Pretty interesting that Jake Scott is still sitting on the open market. His health must be a lot worse than we thought last year.
