- Jim Thomas on Twitter Well, if we really wanted to go nuts on defense, Aso and/or Atogwe would do it.
Free safety is by no means settled, and is perhaps the weakest spot on our defense. I suspect he'll be high on our list.
Vets with injury problems in 2010 and large contracts are being waived prior to 4/4, Atogwe, Sanders, Rogers etc I'd like to see Atogwe in Miami, he would solve the FS problem and Clemons and Jones are ST standouts, to me Atogwe improves two units as soon as he is signed. \ Wll Allen would have been waived right about now if he had not taken the paycut, and Ireland likes to waive players to pay for any new FA's he signs.
He's saying because they "make so much money" they may be cut too. However, what he doesn't realize is that Tim Dobbins base salary is nearly $2.0M... while Crowder's base salary is $2.5M. He's a free agent in 2012 too. Crowder isn't in danger of being cut, IMO.
Um...he has exactly ONE interception in SIX seasons. How exactly does that address our need for a ball-hawking, play-making Free Safety?!
What difference a season makes. This time last year, we were willing to shell out $15 mill / year for this cat.
...Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton Peyton...
This regime was interested in him last year but the conversations did not go far because OJ wanted to stay with the Rams. It remains to be seen if both parties are still interested.
Um wow. No. 24 year old FS who manned down the spot pretty damn well or a 30 year old who would be learning a new system. Yeah. ok.
Who? Clemons laid some nice hits but didn’t demonstrate great ball awareness and always seemed a step the play behind despite his large range. He’s Yeremiah Bell, not Ed Reed.
he has forced 37 turnovers since becoming a starter 5 years ago. Hasnt forced less than 5 turnovers in any season as a starter.
Umm, how many deep passes were completed down the seams? How many post routes? How many deep dagger routes? How many deep fade routes? Clemons did a pretty good job back there. He might have not had game changing stats like INTS, but he got the D working effectively with his alignment calls as well as getting to the ball in a HURRY every play. You do know that teams didnt go deep against us that much in the deep middle because he covered so much ground quickly? Again, stats is NOT a factor you look at with Clemons to judge his play.
I say we go get him. I too wanted us to sign him last offseason, and I'd still gladly take him this year.
Spags is a defensive coach first and foremost, and a damn good one at that...If hes willing to let him go from the rams, than i'll pass and stick with my own guys....or sign Bob Sanders.
We might as well sign Sean Alexander if we're going that route. Sure seems like OJ was cut bc of his bonus, not his play. If it has declined, it's bairly noticable in his numbers.
