    Snake Eyes looks good.

Duke and Ripcord look dumb with all that cheesy body armor.

Is that the Baroness or Scarlet???

Hector Delgado didn't make the Joe team but at least Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow found a ninja mentor!

    El Mayimbe here...

Last I reported, supposedly an offer was made to THE ROCK for the role of Shipwreck. It didn't work out. When I originally reviewed the script, Shipwreck's role was basically a cameo and a setup for the sequel. He had just a line or two in the 3rd act. Obviously the script has gone through its changes during production and now our wisecracking Navy Seal was ultimately cut out because they just couldn't make it work in the movie which is already jammed packed with characters and backstory.

So obviously if the Joe team comes back for a sequel, I'm sure Shipwreck will return as one of the newer members of the Joe team and a fully fleshed out character.

In other Joe movie news, Gerald Okamura has been cast as the Hard Master in the upcoming film. The Hard Master is the ninja master/leader of the Arashikage clan who mentors both Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes in the ways of the ninja. Hard core Joe comic fans know that the Hard Master has something to do with the long standing rivalry between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Gerald Okamura has a cool website you can visit here.

Yeah, what a depressing movie. Marlon is certainly not in his funny man costume for that one.

Oh, and the outfits for this movie look horrible. I don't understand why people shy away from what these guys wore in the comics. I mean, the whole reason to make these movies is to get the fans of the comics into the theatres and buying tickets right? So why bastardize the look and feel of these characters to the extent they have seemingly done?

As much as I'm looking forward to this movie I would agree with this, although I think the only ones that look bad are Duke and Ripcord from what I've seen. Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Baroness, Destro, etc... all look pretty good. I'm interested to see Cobra Commander.

Eh, the trailer was ok, nothing special. I've heard a lot of bad things about this film already unfortunately, as many people are expecting it to bomb.

Just got back from the late showing of GI Joe and sadly, I'm a bit underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, it's a fairly decent movie, and I liked it better than the other Hasbro effort (Transformers 2) from earlier in the summer.

Let's start with my quibbles. Marlon Wayans is barely tolerable during the movie, at least for me ... though he redeems himself in the final act, somewhat. The character design, particularly of the villains at the end of the film, is disappointing and even a bit laughable. The plot itself is of the garden variety, and something I've seen in hundreds of other films before.

But when you think about it, this is a film. Based on a Saturday morning cartoon. So it makes sense for the plot to be very basic. I really liked the Storm Shadow/Snake Eyes dynamic. You get to see the rivalry from the beginning, it was probably the best part of the film for me. Duke, Hawk, and Baroness are all pretty much spot on. The special effects are obviously worth the money. As a tech geek, a lot of the stuff you see in the film - the weapons, the vehicles, etc. - is pretty awesome.

All that is hard to overcome for me, as the main villain is tough to stomach, especially as the film goes on. Maybe I expected too much, but overall I was a bit disappointed in the film. It's possible that, since I was a huge GI Joe fan as a kid, there was no way I was going to be satisfied. I also may be at a point in my life where I want more out of a movie than this film offered. I thought that there was potential there, but I left feeling a little let down. Perhaps they will get it down 100% with the inevitable sequel. I'm going to be generous and give this 3 1/2 stars out of 5. I liked it, but it's not a perfect film.

I liked Transformers..and I imagine I will like this one. I think alot of the issue with these flicks is like VO even admitted, people expect them to be too much like what they are use to.

i liked Transformers much more then this. i was a fan of GI Joe as a kid, and outside of snake eyes and storm shadow, i was just plain not a fan of this movie. theres a lot of bad acting in this movie that starts right with the main character in Duke...Marlon Wayans in this film is actually brought some light for me...

a lot of great special effects but, it couldnt save it for me. just to futuristic for my tastes. not a fan of the villians at all. just a lot of unbelieveable stuff. and by unbelieveable i just mean way to unrealistic for my tastes. the 2 people i went with thought it was a good movie though, i almost fell asleep during..

Wayans ruined it for me, I think his code name should have been Jar-Jar Binks. I really do not understand why Hollywood feels the need to make so many changes to comic book movies, the source material is well liked for a reason. GI Joe The Rise of Cobra, was a bit of a let down for me, not the worst movie ever, but a lot of wasted potential.

I heard the last 15 minutes of this movie Saturday night while I waited outside a theater for a midnight showing of "Rocky Horror Picture Show." I didn't know what was playing. (They had already switched the poster outside the door to RHPS. Just from listening to it, I thought for a good two or three minutes that they were showing Star Wars for some reason.

Not bad when you go in with Low Expectations. Just didnt like it once they reached the glaciers. Thought everything after that got really cheezy.

i didnt like what they did with Cobra Commander. Wish they stuck with the hood.

I saw one glaring thing that still annoys me when I think about it. When Duke and Rip Cord are at the formal before they deploy and are dressed in dress blues, they both had goatees. WTF!!?? You can't have hair on your chin while in uniform!!!!

The other unrealistic parts I could deal with, since basically I went into this movie thinking about the cartoon.

I was unimpressed with Zartan also. I hate the Cobra Commander mask, and Destro seems like a *****.

It had a definite Star Wars feel at the end. There is an attack on a base that is very reminiscent of the attack on the deathstar.

I've never seen the cartoon because it was on before I was born, but I liked this movie. Its really cheesy, yes, but I thought it was pretty entertaining, and I'll definitely go see the sequel.

This was another disappointing movie this summer. The back stories for some of the characters were ridiculous. Some of the action was fun but nothing spectacular.
