I'm guessing on Sunday. Considering that Camarillo got signed by the Saints and caught 4 passes 4 days later, it's only logical that Gaffney would be in action this week. I find it hard believe that a veteran like him would take more than 10 days to get up to speed in a relatively simple offense. I haven't heard anything official, but I think that's a pretty good guess.
As Gaffney has said the routes have options. It's not a clear cut "do this" on each play. Takes a little time to get that down. He has to be on the same page. If he runs the wrong option then disaster. I'll stay patient to make sure they have good communication.
Gaffney in addition to learning the offense(which he has a little bit of an advantage on) has to get into game shape and recover from an injury. It might be a little bit longer.
Waiting to see if he practices this week first. I'd say if he practices, he'll play, otherwise with the Bye upcoming why rush him?
I bet Tannehill is anxious for him to take the field. Even with Hartline and Bess playing well, Gaffney gives him a legit third option and someone else the defense has to game plan for. I am hoping Gaffney makes a big difference and he helps our rookie quarterback by stretching the defense some more.
The fact that he hasn't gotten any reps either means he's been stinking it up in practice or the staff has no clue what they are seeing... because he looked damn good in preseason.
He looked good, and strong..how bad can you be when your taking 0 production over giving reps to a kid that produced in preseason..I don't get it.
Gaffney had pretty good stats last season with 2 pretty bad QB's, if he's healthy he can only help Tannehill and the team. If for no other reason than to give opposing Cornerbacks another WR to have to account for, and to give Tannehill someone with a LOT of NFL experience at WR to learn from. I'm not seeing any real negatives except possibly taking some reps away from young WR's in need of development.
There's some reasonable speculation based on the Dolphins' potentially signing DE/LB Louis Nzegwu to the practice squad (trying to confirm this) that one of the PS members will get called up and it could be Jeff Fuller. It would make sense. Legedu Naanee was being used as a run and screen blocker as often as he was out running routes on pass plays. With him gone and only Marlon Moore to replace him (until Gaffney gets in shape and up to speed) they almost have to give up running the football out of 3-WR personnel sets which I'm not sure they want to do. Jeff Fuller is relatively plug-and-play with this offense because he's so well-experienced in it, and with his size and physicality he can function as that same blocker. He wouldn't need to get into playing shape like Gaffney, or have to pick up a new playbook like Armstrong or Gaffney. Hell they probably should've had Rishard Matthews or Jeff Fuller playing that role in place of Naanee from the beginning.
I think it was @RavensInsider who broke the Louis Nzegwu news, incidentally. Said he'll be joining the Dolphins' practice squad later today. The speculation about Fuller is based on the Dolphins having an extra roster spot, but not having an extra practice squad spot. They have to release someone off the practice squad in order to bring Nzegwu onto it, or they can call someone up from the practice squad to the regular roster.
Moore GOT reps in the Bengals game. Heckuva special teams player, but he and Anthony Armstrong were pretty unimpressive in-person on Sunday.
after the bye... we have to get a better look at the other WR's anyway can always slip Bush in as a WR if needed & run with Lamar for a change-up
