Jordan had a pressure on the last Bucs drive. But really, we should expect more playmaking from our overall #3 pick last year. Is it his effort or wrong position? Someone needs to figure that out and quickly.
I give him 8/10. He looked really good overall, except he did not have a TD in spite of 3 drives, was sacked for a fumble in own territory, and looked shaky on rollout throws.
Max Bullough (LB, MichSt.) just killing it this preseason....smh. If the Texans cut him, we need to be first in line to sign him.
What I don't like about Coyle, not taking away responsibility from Jordan, is that we are now in a second season with confusion about how to use Dion. Do something about it or get off the pot. If they are not going to do anymore than they have, find a match for Jordan on another team and meet a team need. But with the suspension, that might be difficult.
im gonna try to reserve until I look at every rep but I sure didn't see clean pressure on any of the reps I saw against the third and fourth stringers..no big deal, I still love his talent, I don't agree with the direction but whatever, hopefully Coyle is simply working on his pass rush with a bigger plan. I will say this, if he truly put on 5 to 7 lbs of true lean muscle, I would have him drop the other stuff whiles he's on vacation, bring that weight back down a bit.
If he's killing it - he won't be cut. It's incredibly stupid that we did not sign this guy given our needs at MLB. Incredibly stupid. And, given that countless fans and pundits on this board recognized he had potential as a 6th-7th rounder, let alone a UDFA! And, on that note, as the Dolphins running game yielded less than 2.0 ypc, guess who ran for 98 on 12 carries for the Patriots? ... Jonas Gray. But, hey! We get to watch another year of Daniel Thomas getting 3.5 yards ... and we won't even get the cloud of dust to go with it!
Brady Quinn went 4/4, but threw two third down completions short of the sticks. I guess it's a solid performance for being with the team just a week, but i don't want anything to do with him as our primary backup. But my god, I don't think we have ever had such a pretty player wear our uniform. I could not take my eyes off him during his close-ups. Wow!
Texans are deep at LB. Right now he is 2nd string LILB in their 3-4 system, backing up Justin Tuggle. I hope somehow they are dumb enough to try to practice squad him, so that we can sign him off their team. In the draft forum, i was probably his biggest supporter. He got in a little trouble his senior year and that's what dropped his stock. He shouldn't have went undrafted though. Just take a look at his production, measurables, combine numbers, and his All American status....how in the world did he go undrafted??? I knew once the Texans signed him, he was going to push for a starting job. He's been making plays in both Texans' preseason games. Got a nice pick in drop back coverage tonight. I really wanted us to sign this kid.
How bad was Dallas Thomas tonight? Holy hell. I just got back from the stadium. Murder Wilson was shaky as a safety, too.
Dallas Thomas was terrible against Mccoy. I thought he performed better when Mccoy was out of the game. Billy Turner came in and played very well, IMO. I think this week they will have Thomas and Turner split first team reps. Dallas Thomas still deserves a chance. We'll see how he responds in practices and in next week's game after this game.
It's kind of crazy to think that our #1 & #2 WRs, #1 TE and #1 RB (Moreno) have only accounted for 1 rec, 5 yards so far this offseason, and tannehill is looking as sharp as he has been. What kind of improvement can we expect from an offense at full strength?
I'd like to say that McCoy is just that good but we're in a division with Dareus, Richardson and Wilfork, so it's not like it gets easier.
We will agree to disagree. I would think rb would be a waiver wire priority if you are looking at Thomas and Gillislee as the reserves.
Akeem Ayers isn't even a starter in Tennessee right now. I would call them and ask what they want in trade for him. He's the kind of play making, attacking linebacker Kevin Coyle loves.
There did seem to be some added anxiety/pressure on Wilson and he didn't seem to handle it well. What did you think of McCain, Anthony Johnson, Tripp, and Fede?
i've always kind of sided on Thomas' behalf and i guess i'll continue to do so. We've seen nothing from Williams right now to assume hes any better than Thomas. Thomas gets a truly weird amount of hate IMO.
I hate getting caught up in preseason performances, especially for veterans, but the LB unit SCARES me. I know everyone is excited about the young guys like Tripp and McCain but they're not going to be ready to start this year. A trade may be our best option. I can live with Ellerbe OR Wheeler starting, but not both.
Daniel Thomas hasn't proven anything yet but the hatred people have for him is absurd. You'd think he punted a bunch of kittens or something. Dear Lord.
I do not think Chris McCain is going to be ready. He's performing well right now but I don't get the feeling he really knows what he's doing out there. I think there will be blown assignments that lead to big plays for the other side if he's playing a lot. That's nothing against him. Eventually he might get it, and I like his instincts even when he's not sure. Jordan Tripp could be ready to play. I have to review the tape.
He's been consistently sub-mediocre for a number of years. Nobody would hate him if the coaches didn't keep marching him out there for some unholy reason.
I think we might go with a crazy rotation at LB. I could imagine trusnik, tripp and jenkins being on the field just as much as ellerbe and wheeler. Gauranteed money means we won't cut them, but it doesn't mean we'll play them more than others.
I would prefer that neither start. However reality dictates at least one will. Problem is which one. Wheeler looked a little better tonight. And as I said recently, I can't defend my fellow Georgia alum. Ellerbe has been a major disappointment. And what is worse is I see no signs of him getting better. He looks like a misfit for this defense. Wow, how bad was Irish on football decisions on the year he had to get everything right. I believe some of his draft might actually pan out, but boy, he fell on his face with his great white legs sticking straight up in the air.
Thomas reminds me of BJ Upton, who the Atlanta Braves keep marching out on the field with a 210 batting average, after he batted 180 last year. Has to be blackmail.
