Good for him for not being content with another mediocre performance. This coach gives me hope.

Hilarious that everyone's ready to piss this guy away after 3 games.... two of which we knew we were outmatched...at their homes.

Well you should have seen how much patience I had with Dallas Thomas and James in my Madden Franchise I started the game and immiadately put them both on the trading block before game one. Buffalo offered me three picks for James in the 2018 draft 2-4-6 round and I could not hit accept fast enough. I will give gase this year like I do every coach. Players however get 5-6 max to be evaluated for me.

I just listened to the post game comments and if I did not know better yould swear it was being held after a loss. They know they sucked today.
Wake cracked me up though. He was like yeah we know we sucked but when you rub a littlebit of a W over it, it makes it feel a little bit better. I laughed cause its exactly how i feel too.

he is right, but i don't think there is anything he can do to fix it this year. can't run the ball to save our lives, drake ran his heart out which was good to see but there is nothing for them to run through. part of the problem is having so many tackles on the oline and not enough road graders. this oline needs a richie incognito type. the oline needs pouncey back ASAP as well.

He's as much to blame as anyone for the way the offense performed today. He took too long to adjust, and he then abandoned what was working in favor of safer plays (that didn't work) and put us in 3rd and 6-8 situations far too often.
But we gotta do a better job of running the ball. Just a little something, please.Rocky Raccoon likes this. -

They looked like crap yesterday, it was embarrassing. James looked like crap and is at least partially responsible for 2 of Thills turnovers. And I am not removing blame from Thill, he really looked like crap most of the game.
This team looks on defense like I was worried about going into the season. Maxwell, at least the way he is being utilized looks awful. Howard while showing promise looks like a rookie, Our Lb's for the most part cant cover and cant stop the run.
So yeah, we still have huge holes on defense.
I am hoping the offense will get it together by midseason after they get comfortable and more practiced in the scheme. I've seen that a hundred times over the years, a scheme and coaching change taking awhile to bare fruit. It seems the teams that have been able to adjust quickly and come out of the gate fast have all had more stable and complete rosters than we do.
Unlike many, I did not and do not expect the playoffs this year. I just want to see improvement on the field and be in a position personnel wise to make a push next year. -
For anyone who didn't watch those post-game press conferences it was pretty telling. Take a look for yourself: http://www.miamidolphins.com/multim...ferences/b5906057-66f7-4705-a7d8-2b194736e977
Gase is frustrated and Tannehill is straight up saying it was ugly and 3 games in it was basically an embarrassment. Suh, Jones, and Wake said the same thing.
It was pretty clear that this team felt like they lost yesterday or that the win they got was a very, very weak one. To me, that paints a picture that they are realists which I appreciate.
That said, they're all correct. It was a failure in terms of execution and it was less than what is usually required to win in the NFL.cuchulainn and dolphin25 like this. -

Man, that Jay Ajayi is one cocky mo-fo! He's all like, "look at me! don't you love me!" at the end of the game. It's like: hey, bro, we'll love you if you can be a consistently good RB or of you can just do your job and be humble.
I want to know what happened to the Jay Ajayi from last year? The one with the half-spin-move, where he gained 8 more yards running backwards. I was looking forward to more of that crazy stuff. -
I agree in getting the running game going, but the last thing we should try to do is force the running game. Getting stuffed up the middle is just frustrating and leads to people calling for the OC's head. This offense has demonstrated the ability to have scoring drives when leaning more heavily on the pass. Also, it seems the running game does better in slightly wider formations. Give the line some room. Space things out and allow some lanes to open up. IF you're going to line up snug and tight and then try to cram your running back thru that mess it's not going to work. Saw it a few times yesterday. Hoping this does not become a trend. It'll be like a return to the JJ years. Keep spreading it out and spreading it around. Get Stills back in the picture a bit more. Is Sims gonna play more now with Cameron out? Throw him the damn ball. It's nice to have Landry back at full force. But Stills can be used on some specialized routes. And you know they are going to be keying on Landry.

I gotta watch Gase's post game presser. Glad he is pissed, though. Hope it rouses the team.
Cleveland fans, meanwhile, were completely confident that they would make it interesting while ultimately losing. It's their mantra, it's what they do.
That filled me with confidence as we need some wins early as this team gets more comfortable. -

So the line can finally pass block better due to an all-tackle line(sans C). But because it's made up of mostly tackles, they aren't very good at run blocking. And we'll have to wait until next year for it to be fixed when we A. Sign/draft a new RB to be the starter and B. Sign/draft a bunch of guards and see who wins the G spots. So typical Dolphins, half measures and always steps behind, always a few players away from getting it right. Gonna be a long season...but we already knew that.
