I think this should make a decent movie. Definitely should be filled with action and violence since one of the feature weapons in the game is a machine gun with a chainsaw under the barrel.

Never played the game or am that familiar with it, but doesn't that plot sound pretty much identical to the movie Starship Troopers, which was a complete suckfest to put it nicely...

If 'Doom' was horrible Im not sure what chance any of these types of games have at making the leap to the big screen.

this game actually has a good story, though. I guess it could kind of be like Starship Troopers, but this game is actaully much grittier, IMO. Kind of like a Band of Brothers thing...

The hardest thing to do in making these movies is living up to the expectations that the game itself has forced us to have. The game itself already has great graphics and video montages. The game itself tells only a portion of the full story, so basically the writers and producers have to take those things and improve on them.

Take the Mortal Kombat movies for example. Everyone in the world knew the background of the game. Everyone in the world knew the characters and the moves already. But for some ungodly reason the producers didn't improve on that and basically fed us a live action version of the game, which really doesn't support a full length movie. With a good story and some real character development, maybe that movie could have had a chance.

The GOW story is a good story. And the game only tells a fraction of the whole story. So if the movie can actually tell the whole story, and set up the character development so we can get to know these guys a bit more, then this movie could be great. This game has the potential to be created into one of the best movies based on a game ever, but only time will tell to see if these guys can pull it off in a way to satisfy the big gamers.
