Boy, did Auburn forever more screw the pooch with firing Tommy Tuberville. Gene Chizik was one of the better defensive coordinators in college football, but it's hard to imagine Auburn hiring a guy who has a record of 5-19 even if it is at Iowa State. Auburn got burned here for a few reasons: 1. They never should have fired Al Borges and never should have made the switch to the spread offense. That move started this, IMO. 2. Auburn has too many boosters that have too much control over the program. What you see here is a group of boosters that panicked when Will Muschamp, the guy they wanted, showed no interest in the job. 3. Auburn now has an Athletic Director that will probably be on his way out very soon. From what I have heard, Jay Jacobs basically got shut down in this search. He wanted Mike Leach, who would have been a foolish hire IMO because I don't see his system working in the SEC. The boosters wanted someone that will trash the spread.
Hope he does as well at Auburn as he did at ISU. What a jerk...he did us ISU fans dirty....just like Nick.
I thought the whole point of firing a coach was to find a better replacement, not someone worse. Think they did Tuberville wrong.
I have a lot of friends that go to ISU, and the first I heard of it was from one of my friends texting me and saying, "Chizik pulled a Saban"
Was awesome to see a front page yahoo headline linked to an article ripping Chizik today What a chump...honestly just a month ago he said how he was committed to rebuilding ISU and wouldn't consider going elsewhere. Getting sick of coaches bailing on my rebuilding teams!
