A reader writes into Aint it Cool News: "In Boston to promote a new House of Blues, Dan Aykroyd answered some online questions for the Boston Globe - as is typical, the first question asked was about Ghostbusters 3 [Comment From Tom] Dan, I'm extremely excited for the HOB to be back in its birth-city!! I will be attending many shows. On a side note, and I'm sure you get these questions a lot, so I apologize in advance…Ghostbusters 3? I've heard that the writers of the Office are currently penning a script? How is this coming along, and should we look forward to this movie seeing the light of day? Thanks Dan! Dan Aykroyd: Script is commenced early summer. Hope to be in production by late fall 2009 http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/15376
Honestly, I had heard this was going to be a Video game. And I really think it would have been better off as one.
Those guys are old enough to be ghosts themselves. Let this dog keep sleeping. GB was great but another sequel/reboot/remake would be lousy, IMO.
Future film Ghostbusters III is a proposed project. Ghostbusters III Movie is Real D Cinema Digital 3-D Movie. Working Title is Ghostbusters III, Complete Title is Ghostbusters 3-D. During his interview with Mike McGuire on CISN Country 103.9 FM in Edmonton, Alberta, Dan Aykroyd announced that Ghostbusters III: Hellbent will be CGI. "I can do all the things I wanted to do for much, much less money," he stated. Aykroyd wrote the script, which was described by IGN as being "too technical", with a new team of Ghostbusters that were not clearly delineated and had no group conflict or leading personalities.[14] Bill Murray has been thought to have held up the making of a third Ghostbusters movie, despite Aykroyd's enthusiasm, due to his preference that the movie be animated and his dislike of sequels.[15] However, he has now signed on to make the movie now that it will be CGI.[16] Harold Ramis is already attached. Sigourney Weaver has not expressed enthusiasm at doing another sequel.[17] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters_(franchise)
Was a big fan of these movies but this has sounded horrible from day 1. New cast and animated.... a friggin cartoon? Yeesh. Leave it be.
I'd be up for it if it was completely CGI with their likeness and voices but seeing them run around chasing ghosts (especially Harold Ramis who looks like he ate a tiny child and has looked like that for years) in their old age wouldn't be the best idea. I've heard that the movie could involve them training the next wave of Busters with Seth Rogen as one of the new recruits but that would take away from the original 4 too much in my opinion. By the way I've seen the trailer to the Ghostbuster game and it looks great. I might have to be picking it up when it comes out.
1. Ghostbusters ruled. 2. Ghostbusters II sucked. 3. Ackroyd has not been funny for years. If he wrote the script for GBIII, it will suck for sure. 4. However, if Murray signed on, that gives it some kind of legitimacy. Unless he's rejoining the "gang" in the same manner in which Neil Young re-groups with CSN, meaning, he ain't doing it for the money, he's just helping out his mates. 5. If this happens, I'll let my dad see it. If he likes it, I'll go.
