In an interview with Finsider, Gibson alluded several times to players feeling this is their last shot together. He appears to have been talking about the team, but it might mean it is the feeling among WRs.
Is this a figure of speech, or is there truth to that feeling?

You took that quote out of context. He was referring to the Heat and LeBron leaving. Saying you never know who will be gone the next season and how when you have a chance to make the playoffs you can't lay an egg at the end of the year like we did last season because you never know what will happen year to year.
The "this is our last chance" was in reference to winning games at the end of the season to make the playoffs.
At least that's how I heard it.Larryfinfan, DOLPHAN1 and SICK like this. -

He compared them to Heat saying, a lot of those guys knew that was the last time they will be together. And then later in the interview he said, you know we are not going to get this opportunity again.

Well, not including the new additions just the ones that were here last year, somebody needs to play and act like it's their last freakin chance, cause I'm damn tired of players playing unemotional football, I understand it's hard for them to play in our stadium, but they must stick to their credo.

What if Gibson believes the end of the world is coming after the season is over?
Rocky Raccoon likes this. -

I agree this will be their last chance to make the playoffs with this group of players and this coaching staff. It is Philbin's third year as the HC and another 500 or below season just isn't enough for him to be retained after this season. If the coaching staff is gone next year because this team once again failed to get to the playoffs, the next HC will certainly want to bring in his own players over the next few years in an attempt to bring a winning formula to this team.
If on the other hand this team does win enough games to make the playoffs this year. I would expect the vast majority of this teams core players to remain together beyond this season. Win and players won't have to worry about it being their last chance as a team. Lose and it is probably time to start making the changes necessary to put a winning product on the field. -
