We asked permission to speak with Gamble..request was granted..reports are that Gamble has interest in the job..

 

So what are the names so far?

Tom Gamble - Eagles
Omar Khan - Steelers
Ray Farmer - Browns
Jason Licht - Cardinals
Lake Dawson - Titans
Lionel Vital - Falcons
Marc Ross - Giants


Who else did I miss?

 

Brian Gaine is a candidate I believe.

I hope they hire him. maybe he can get Ireland a high position there too.

Unsuccessful franchises like the Jets should seek to model themselves after successful ones. They should find talent from those teams. The Miami Dolphins are not an example of a franchise to emulate. In fact, the Dolphins have been run worse than the Jets over the past five years. They have one winning season and zero Playoff wins. How involved was Gaine? According to this article, he has been Jeff Ireland's "right-hand man." If you like how the Dolphins have been run, a franchise that blows Draft picks, doesn't find impact players, makes dumb trades, and puts out mediocrity, Gaine is your man.

Saving the best candidates for last? This is Gamble, Marc Ross or bust for me.

 

I'm pretty damn excited, I must admit.

 

Getting a new GM is exciting. Heck, even Khan would slightly excite me, even though he has little background in personnel eval. That said, my 3 favorite candidates are Gamble, Licht and Dawson. Though none of us really have access to enough info on the candidates to make a good call.

 

This needs to be said more often.

 

actually Vital would be a good hire as well.

 

I'm not a big Florio fan but for once he wrote a piece on the Phins which doesn't include a dig.

Do not believe anything Mike Florio says. If you're outside getting rained on, and Florio says its raining, chances are you're being peed on by a giant.

 

Why hasn't Xanders been added to the list?

 

Phew...I thought he may have already been written off by the awesome Miami media and the "nobody wants to f***ing come here!" crowd. Good deal.

 

Well here's a late development that I'm not sure how to read:

"NFL Network reported late tonight that the Dolphins have reached out to Vikings GM George Paton about their GM opening, but it's unclear if he will interview. (Pro Football Talk reported something similar earlier.) Paton previously worked for the Dolphins. Miami interviewed Detroit executive and former Broncos GM Brian Xanders on Wednesday."

Seems kinda odd they reached out to the Vikes GM "after" interviewing Xanders...me no like.

 

well the best candidates have all turned us down...Gamble, DeCosta, Scott McCloughan.

 

Xanders's interview lasted two days. He's the only candidate they have spent two days with. Those that are projecting Farmer and Dawson as the favorites are only connecting dots. Carl Peterson hired Farmer in Kansas City and drafted Lake Dawson in KC. That's it. These guys have heard nothing from any sources that suggest anything. They are simply throwing out some ideas to get a jump on a story, and when the Dolphins hire someone else, it will be because they changed their minds a the last minute.....or they will create some story about how Farmer and Dawson didn't really want this job.

Florio is getting very creative with this idea that the Dolphins are planning on bringing in Bill Kuharich as well.

 

So, you are going to go with the media narrative on this then? They turned us down, so the job must not be attractive. Well, they also turned down interviews with the Buccaneers. Tom Gamble doesn't want to leave Philadelphia with his father on hospice care. Eric DeCosta has turned down multiple interviews for GM spots because he is the heir apparent in Baltimore. Scot McCloughan works for Seattle from his home, because he let the pressure of the job in SF get to him to the point that he almost lost his family. He's not interested in becoming a GM again.

None of these guys, with the exception of McCloughan who doesn't want to be a GM again, can put forth the resume that Brian Xanders has. Brian Xanders is by far the best candidate, and it is very encouraging that he has spent two days interviewing with the Dolphins.

 

Just as they've been doing with any other team who want to interview them to be GM.

 

Oh nobody wants to run this franchise. Boo hoo. Aponte is the devil. Boo hoo. Philbin is an idiot. Boo hoo . Ross is a dolt. Boo hoo.

Come on in off the ledge. Sit down. Relax. We will have a new GM by the Senior Bowl.

 

Don't you want them interviewing all candidates and then going with the best one? Why would you want them to not interview people that are qualified? Because Xanders is YOUR favorite? It seems that the smart business decision is to interview all candidates and THEN make a decision.
