None of these interviews excite me to be honest. Vital would be an excellent candidate but we have yet to talk to him.
Closest thing to news that I saw was this: Barry Jackson @flasportsbuzz1 h Though Giants personnel man Marc Ross was originally mentioned as Fins GM candidate, he instead has interviewed twice with Tampa.... Barry Jackson @flasportsbuzz1 h ...As of this morning, Dolphins indicated they were still deliberating next step, deciding on potential 2nd interviews, etc. Barry Jackson @flasportsbuzz56 min Fins have done 6 GM interviews: Ray Farmer,Lake Dawson,Brian Xanders,Jason Licht,Omar Kahn,in-house candidate Brian Gaine.
Seems like there was a sventh interview today, Dennis Hickey, director of player personnel with the Tampa Bay Bucs. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2014/01/seventh-gm-interview-dennis-hickey.html Surprising thing is he didn't even interview for the GM position with his own team where he has worked for 18 years, the last 3 as director of player personnel. Personnally, I am a bit disappointed that candidates like Vital, Ross and Highsmith have not been interviewed. Might be because 2 of them seem to be among the finalists for the TB job, but still.
Dolphins can strike one name from the list. Jason Licht will be the new Bucs GM. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10328325/jason-licht-hired-tampa-bay-buccaneers-general-manager
That ticks me off. It is impossible to know for sure. But, this guy has a great pedigree. Better than several we have interviewed. And we are actually interested in the guy from Tampa Bay that Licht is replacing??? Yeah, that makes sense!!!
