The strong presence of Dolphins executive vice president Dawn Aponte in the process -- she is one of the more vocal members of the interviewing party, sources said, and clearly closely aligned with coach Joe Philbin and owner Stephen Ross -- has not gone unnoticed by candidates, league sources said, and questions remain about the direction of the franchise. Candidates are unclear if Philbin would report directly to Ross or whether the new GM would have domain. Philbin is a favorite of Ross and Aponte and while candidates are being made away that Philbin will be retained for 2014, candidates are concerned that if they believe a change is necessary in 2015, matters could be complicated by the personal relationship the coach shares with the owner and his trusted lieutenant.

Is Farmer at the head because he isn't questioning the process?

Ross could make this whole process a lot easier if he just gave our new GM the authority to decide Philbin's fate

lol, so candidates are interviewing and thinking "Boy, I'd love to fire that Philbin and become the Czar, but this Dawn and Ross characters are just ridiculously blocking me!"

It's pretty typical of Miami's direction under Stephen Ross.

Dawn Aponte is clearly angling herself into running this football team, everything that comes out says the same thing, she is very involved. TOO involved in my opinion. -

Question is appearances
You have the Rumors
Then you have Aponte all up in the interview
Then Ross is going to try and sell the fact that the rumors are false
Unless your out of a job, it would be surprising for these candidates to want to come here
Remember Sparano gate and the trip to Cali
Character
That is what Ross is trying to sell -
Y'all can speculate, I'm gonna let it play out and watch some college prospects.

If GM's were really so weary of the structure, then why are some of the best candidates in the NFL interviewing? -

this could be the second time we lose out on Tom Gamble because of our owner's unwillingness to sever ties with his team's coach or GM...the first time Harbaugh was probably hesitant to work with Ireland, which makes perfect sense, and reports say had we hired him and let him choose his GM he would have picked Gamble....and now we might miss out on him again because of this Philbin/Aponte partnership.

GM's like having money to spend. Ross will open his account. And you need someone like Aponte to make sure we make deals that keep us financially competitive. I think. Our cap situation is one of the reasons people want to come here. Its that way
.because of Dawn Aponte.

2. The gm position is probably the hardest to obtain in the league. Coordinators come and go. Hc's even have a lot turnaround usually, but gm is a tough gig to get. Guys who are hungry for a gm job are likely to take whatever one they can.
3. You know...and I know this is a crazy thought...its possible sone of these potential gm's might like philbin as a coach. I know, crazy, but its possible...
4. Solid cap space. All our picks. Young qb whose progresing well.77FinFan likes this. -

I'll reserve judgement until after we hire someone. I think the process for us is under the microscope far more than any GM search I've ever seen. Let it play out. Honestly the fan base here needs to just shut the **** up and let things play out sometimes.

If I am not I apoligize to all.
I do not think we are bad.
I think we have way more talent then most think
I was against getting rid of anyone
All I have said is if 1 goes they all should go
I believe had the line not imploded we would have made the playoffs
No one could have known that would happen
I feel Philbin on his own, without the OC and GM who new this team - is destined to fail
That's it
If we are going to fail I would rather clean house
Not prolong the inevitable -

Most want to believe everything is going to be Hunky Dory because Ireland is gone
When things are pointed out that are being reported some want to discount them and dismiss them because they don't make them feel good
Then others like to call names and make it personal
Human nature
It is the proverbial glass half empty/glass half full
Don't blame them for being Human....most want to think happy thoughts
