Impressive. At this point, I'd be surprised if he's still around when we pick at 22.

I also don't believe we would go OL that early, although by all accounts Grier keeps saying BPA round 1. So, who knows.

I think Mr. Lamp though, is going to be gone before our pick rolls around.

I know our needs for guards, but I am convinced that after 2 1/2 seasons of a bad defense, real and defense, we need to fix this. Since we didn't get a splash on Free Agency, it leads me to believe we are going to build it through the draft.

Nice comparison on Lamp vs. Martin. Since some are suggesting he might be gone when we pick, I looked up Feeney's profile. I thought below was interesting. Would that comment apply to us? Are we strictly a zone team or do we want to mix it up and play power, too? If we are a zone team, why would we take Lamp or any OL in the 1st if as the AFC scouting director said we can get guys late in the draft? I am confused on what we should do. I wouldn't be upset with Lamp or a lot of other guys, but I don't want to over draft a position if we can fill our needs later in the draft. Thoughts appreciated.

If Lamp is there at 22, you take him. The chance to solidify the O Line with a possible all pro style player is beyond value. It is integral to the success of the team. It returns a hint, at least, if not a generous dollop of ground control to the offense. Third and 2 or 3 do not of necessity become passing downs because the interior of the line is composed of blank slots. And, most importantly - the DT does not have a turnstile in front of him on the path to the QB on passing downs. None of this is immediate, mind you - unlike the statistical probability of a sack on the QB last year. But, it is a gihugeous step in the right direction to keeping the O on the field and the D off of it!

Unfortunately I think you are correct.

There will be quality defensive players available, I would go D, but I wouldn't be able to hate Lamp, if he's still there.
