Miami Dolphins | Sun-Sentinel Blogs: Cowards go home for playoffs

I just read that article in the Sun-Sentinel. I think that Omar needs to get a grip- come out swinging or be a coward and die a thousand deaths? This team doesn't deserve that kind of insult, they've already accomplished a lot and have been aggressive. That is one lousy article- the players should duct tape him to the goalpost or give him a swirly in the toilet for writing such obnoxious, disrespectful crap.High Definition and azfinfanmang like this.

I liked the article. The above quote is Omar's response in the comments. It's not a matter of win or lose that makes you a coward, it's HOW you win or lose. The guns blazing reference and drive by for that matter were a little off, but I still get his point. IMO this would be a great approach into todays game. However, the coach staff doesn't have the "go for the jugular" mentality. At least they haven't shown it thus far. Maybe it's time they start. :yes:

Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.

I'd beg to differ. I bet JPeezy would LOVE to hear this. His whole attitude is what Omar says in this article. Porter is exactly a "guns blazing" type of player.
-
It's in the comments too. :up: -

He is a pass rusher. "Drive By Sack"....I like that. :lol:
It's all a reference. Maybe not one you'd use, but then again you didn't write the article. :wink2: -
No, Porter would be happy to go out and play flat. I mean the guy has no intensity or care at all to play hard. Some of you all need to get off the reference and just look at the point he was making. :pity: -
In short all Omar's saying is play the game to win, don't leave anything on the field,and don't play it safe.
I don't see how anyone would be put off by that.He's saying don't play Dave Wannstedt football.We all saw what not going " all in " looks like before under that guy.
I really don't understand how people can dislike him so much that they 100% miss his point.

Yep , yep...This is as old as time..... People hate what they can't relate to.
-
The Dolphin players give more time to Omar then any other Miami beat guy.............I think that shows what they think of him.
-
And because you wouldn't, that makes his point about the team coming out with such a mentality, wrong? :no:
-
I have just about every war to back me up................
Again your not understanding what is being said -

Omar Kelly is saying don't be a synonym for cat is all. The Dolphins are anything but that, especially since Miami has been going for 4th downs frequently the last couple of games. They aren't talented enough yet to start taking victories versus stealing victories. If they go out guns blazing, they'll lose. Better to play good D, have Pennington keep being efficient and have the run game win the game. Or you'll see lots of turnovers.
-
Coming out and being aggressive and knowing that we have to take chances..I get that! The drive by and blasting is idiotic and just plain wrong!
I agree with Omar on the philosophy...I don't even come close to agreeing with his references.:no: -
:up: I don't agree with his references at all. But the philosophy is spot on as you said. I think everyone is on board with wanting to put a spanking on the Jillies.NyPhinfan likes this.

Why do sports blogs always decend into political talk? you all know im a political junkie, but im concerned about this over-exposure of politics in our society

To be honest, I thought Omar's point was as off as his literary citation. Teams that don't execute go home. The Dolphins, a not terribly talented football team, have octupled their win total from last year by making fewer mistakes than I thought possible. They beat the Bills today because they made fewer mistakes and because Losman was terrible. "Guns blazing" had nothing to do with it.
I enjoyed the comments on the Herald board laying into Omar for giving Tupac the credit for Shakespeare's work. My favorite:
Also, opinions aside, Omar's got to be one of the worst writers who actually gets paid for his work I've ever read. It was like he was seeing how many cliches he could cram into a few paragraphs.
