Okay I just did a trade in my league, as of yesterday my team was... QB-P.Manning RB-R.Rice RB-P.Thomas WR-C.Johnson WR-D.Jackson WR-D.Driver TE-B.Celek K-D.Carpenter D-Dolphins Bench QB-J.Flacco WR-K.Britt WR-S.Holmes WR-T.Owens RB-L.McCoy RB-C.Williams I believe Flacco will have a breakout year so it prompted my to draft him in hopes of a trade for more quality players at WR/RB I traded Manning and Britt for S.Greene and S.Smith of the Panthers. So what do you guys think...god trade, bad trade? How do you like the team?
Honestly? Awful trade. You were stacked at RB. And you just traded away an elite QB for a RB you didn't need, and a WR on the downside of his career. You didn't significantly upgrade either position with the trade, and probably made one of your competitors much better by giving him Manning. You got fleeced. You should have waited to see what Flacco could do and what positions you were actually short on after a couple of games. Peyton Manning will do nothing to hurt his value, and his stock only would have gone up had you waited. And what are you going to do at backup QB? What if Flacco doesn't pan out? Plus you traded for a Jet. Sorry man, bad move no matter how you look at it. Your team was just dandy, but now you have a big hole at QB, even if Flacco does have a breakout year.
I know this was a late night trade where i was "thinking'; too much but I think It kinda evens out bc im not too sure about McCoy or P.Thomas so I just wanted backup
I agree. I liked your team a hell of a lot more the way it was originally. Flacco could start out well and you prob could of worked out a deal shipping him out for a starting WR or RB2.
yeah this could blow up in my face but i am banking on Flacco and I got a WR & a RB#1 for my QB. so i like it but its on Flacco now
I don't like your trade for a couple of reasons. 1) Peyton Manning is faaar better than Joe Flacco, imo...not even close. He should throw 10 more TDs this year than Flacco. 2) Now it looks like you will still have to bench one of the 2 players you just traded for every week. If your WR#3 is a flex (hopefully) you will be either sitting Greene or one of your great 3 WR every week, unless you bench Pierre Thomas who looks like he will have a great FF season this year. Obviously Donald Driver gets benched every week.
yeah dont know what to expect from driver so I figured having Smith to throw in there would help out plus I think Greene will have a good year(except for 2 games)
Sorry, I'm with everyone else in hating this trade. I see Flacco as a major downgrade, S. Green as an injury risk and S. Smith as your third WR. The trade will come down to how much more Green produces than P. Thomas vs. how close Flacco can get to P. Manning's numbers. Just looking at TDs for the sake of simplicity, my guess is that you gained 1 or 2 TDs by replacing Thomas with Green and gave up about 9 TDs by giving up Manning.
Even if Flacco equals or surpasses Manning it's still a bad trade. You don't realize how much better you made one of your competitors with this trade. Plus as I said before, Manning's value only would have gone up. You could have gotten so much more for him and known which positions you actually needed to upgrade later on in the season.
Peyton Hillis for Shonn Greene. I wouldnt even consider this trade normally except the fact that LT looks phenomonal and Greene has looked terrible. (I have Greene)
I agree. Bad trade. Your team was already amazing. To have Peyton, Ray Rice, Calvin Johnson... you were probably already top 3 at each position. Amazing set. With a few solid roleplayers, you should have been able to coast to the playoffs. Now it's up to Joe Flacco. I have him too, and he'll come around with those great receivers, but he probably won't go off for 4 touchdowns and 400 yards like Peyton will from time to time.
Peyton also sits during the FF playoffs and championship. I agree it's a bad trade though. I'm just not crazy about drafting Peyton in general. I would rather rake a WR or RB in his spot at the draft.
really bad move, you trade the surest thing there is @ QB every week in and out and on top of that you got a guy in return in green who is already in the doghouse after a poor week 1 performance and a guy in smith who is very unstable at the QB situation right now, the guy who you did it with is probably still laughing about this one
