Lol. Sometimes it'll take longer to locate your vehicle and the road you're on than I'd like. What I like about it is that its easy access. I don't know how or if other GPS' are complicated but this one is pretty easy to use. I'm probably not a big help here, since I don't have a clue about technology but the GPS works for me.

The best idea I can give you is to PM Stitches or Desides. Those two know everything about these things.

 

Yeah about the only feature I've been able to figure out on the Garmin is to change the language to Bosnian lol.

If your going to buy a GPS one of the features I would be looking for would be to buy one that has lifetime free traffic updates. I have had both Garmin and Magellan and have had no problems with either. If you don't get one with Lifetime free Traffic and later decide you want it you will end up paying a monthly fee for this service. Plus the service is priceless IMO.

Get one that has the Lifetime subscription. From what I have seen the difference in price in minuscule.

 

I've got a Garmin Nuvi 245w, or 255w... its a couple years old now, but its outstanding. I absolutely love it, whether it is for short, or long trips.

That being said, if they are comparable in features and in what you want it to do for your use, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. As far as I know Garmin, and TomTom are the top 2 leading makers of GPS devices.

 

Get an android device...comes free on a few of them spoken turn by turn, portable, no fees for updates. Also, gives traffic, movie listings, all kinds of convenient stuff. I'm a complete spaz with directions and it hasnt done me wrong yet...

 

alot of smartphones have gps navigation capabilities now. there is even the Garmin-phone on tmobile. if you got something like that, you will ALWAYS have your gps and it wont be one more device to carry around or worry about for any reason.

 

I'm rather surprised you would need one for to and from work tho !!! :tongue2: :lol:

Love the street names pronounced, bluetooth and traffic.

 

I have a Garmin. If you live a city type area it'll take a minute or so to find the signal but other than that I really like it. My folks have a TomTom and they hate it apparently.

 

Ken, I have never used the Tom Tom but if I remember correctly, a while back [yr or so] Consumer Reports did a report on them. while I do not remember all the particulars in it, the Tot Tom was down on the list a bit. Garmin placed much higher and I have used and own the Garmin. Mine is a 2007 model and does very well. It is quite "stupid friendly", as I like to call it, and pretty straight forward. Touch screen, stores addresses of places you've been and when you want to, just touch "Home" and it will direct you no matter where your are. one thing I like to do with it is when I'm away somewhere strange is to just turn it off so it won't be bugging you with "re-directions" all the time. Explore to you heart's content out there in the boonies and when you've had enough, turn it back on and you'll know right where you are and it will get you back on the beaten path once again. All in all, for $100 or so, it's hard to go wrong.
