Snap plans are key to defending Wildcat Robinson spoke with several NFL Head Coaches, including Mike Smith & Steve Spagnuolo.
one more thing for nfl defenses to prepare for before games & worry about during another arrow in our offensive quiver
no offense intended, but is there any reason why you post the way you do? are you trying to make it hard for us to read on purpose?
I'm not so sure the point is valid, because any time you get push as the defensive line your chances to stop ANY play skyrocket. That's like me saying "If the corner could have pressed the receiver at the line, it would have disrputed his timing". It's so obvious it almost doesn't need to be said. The rest was interesting though, about how defenses prepare for it and what they are expected to do as individual players.
I do remember their line getting manhandled which was a huge reason why the wildcat worked so well. The reason we couldn't run it against the Ravens was because their defense was just way better than our offense.
Penetration can help, but its not that simple. You still need to have specific gap responsibilities and assignments designed for defending the wildcat. the SOLB and SS are crucial in stopping the Jet Sweep. If we cant get yards with Ricky on the sweep, then we lose the double threat of the attack.
You know what will be interesting this year is to see how the Dolphins defend against the Wildcat themselves in a real game.. There are a number of teams that are going to use the Wildcat this year to some extent as a game changer, similar to the no-huddle offense. Can we defend against our own scheme or will we get burned and have ESPN bag all over us.
