I'm just going to assume it won't happen. If it does, it will be a very pleasant surprise.

I really have the respect for Marino he after my dad really made me a phin fan. But Marino while a great qb is not the front office type. Its ok not everyone is ready to take on that responsibilty. Marino is a great man and player but a ceo type no. Some take the Elway senario Elway showed he wanted to run things by going out and getting his own team. Marino has never wanted that . so don't expect anything dolphans

The problem is that Marino will want a say in who is hired or fired or drafted, etc. and that won't happen with the current power structure. I think we are going to have to wait for things to completely fall apart before we make any real moves are made in the front office.

Don't think it will happen this season. If everything goes as expected then I can see it happen next season when everyone is fired.
-
I believe it wont happen because Stephen Ross is too stupid to make it happen. He'd rather have clueless morons like himself who know nothing about football or the NFL run the football team.

Anyone would be an idiot to take a job in the dolphins organization with aponte running things.

I don't believe that the things that made him a great football player make him a great (or even good) front office person. His value to the club would be as a PR person.

I believe he has tremendous value now...as nobody had the heart of a warrior like Marino. Our franchise NEEDS Jason Taylor and Marino...to provide mentorship to the players in that they demand excellence. Cote is right...the time is right...make it happen

I do think Zach would make for a great coach as well..

I wouldn't want Marino's name attached to this group of losers.

I'd like to have Marino in on a role where the HC and GM report to him, and then he talks things over with Ross. Not where he's hands on with play evaluation, or contracts or the such. Just as a head of football operations type. A man who knows how an NFL team should be run who's there to make sure that things go smoothly instead of Ross.

It would make perfect sense to bring in a "placeholder" GM if you wanted someone like Marino calling the shots, since he obviously wouldn't have full control over the draft boards and the personnel moves. Since Marino walked away from his TV deals recently as well, I think that's what we're going to end up seeing...Marino in a similar role to Elway. That way he can recruit and smile at the cameras, but there are still more knowledgeable people working behind the scenes to keep the team afloat.

Okay, question.... Just an honest question. And before I ask it, let's put the whole controversy aside for the of answering it.
What indication do we have that Dan Marino would know what he is doing if given a job within the staff-side of the Miami Dolphins organization? -
I would love to have Louis Oliver as the secondary coach so he can teach our guys how to get ints .

Marino becomes the COO ostensibly but with the GM running the day-to-day football operations and personnel decisions.
Not quite as hands on as Elway, but a bit more than a figurehead. -

I think it's pretty amazing people think that someone with practically zero mobility and an arm that could barely throw 60 yards could make a hall of fame career at one of the most cerebral positions in all of sports without really having a keen and unique understanding of the game. Amazing and incredibly naive.
