The Titans just cut him. He played there for 2 years after playing for Carolina for 2.

Strictly a lead block and ST kind of guy.

A WTF? move in my mind.

Guy is tough and can move piles.
Not real impressed with this move initially.

Wow, real left field stuff here.

Meanwhile, EA is pissed off at us for making so many moves. They don't even have a photo of Dan Carpenter.

unless I just completely missed something seems there were a lot of guys that could have gotten the axe before boomer - if not as a FB the guy had a motor on special teams and always seemed to be near the ball.

The real reason Boomer Grigsby was released was because Parcells and Ireland have secret memberships to The Club Level and took offense to some of the comments made by our Boomer and mistakenly thought our Boomer was Boomer Grigsby, not realizing there are two Boomers I guess.

Great move although I wish we would have just kept Mauia. The only thing I want from my fullback is too block. If he can catch and run thats just sprinkles on my ice cream. Grigsby was one of the worst blocking fullbacks Ive seen. The transition from LB never panned out

IMO, he was much better at blocking than the Jugger Not.

If the guy is an upgrade why is he even on the market good blocking fullbacks don't come around very often.

Only advantage I see is that he looks to be a TE/FB from the get go - maybe Grigsby had not fully developed from a linebacker.

It also may have been less about the catching skills that Grigsby had and more about run blocking and picking up the blitz.

Can't be much worse than Grigsby. He really did not look that great.

Interesting to note: Grigsby is 5'11'', 250lb. Cramer is 6'2'', 250lb.

Good fullbacks don't come around very often period. It's arguably one of the least important positions in football now. Mike Alstott was probably the last of his kind.

If Cramer can lead block reliably and can be relied on for short yardage situations, why the heck not?

I would put Loreno Neal in that same boat if you want to talk about a great run blocking FB.

Did Grigsby whiff on blocks yesterday? i know I saw ronnie miss one block yesterday. i'm gonna go back in the morn and watch the game closer, I'll bet the reason lies in that game.

No, Neal and Alstott are two different kinds of FBs. Alstott was a throwback to when rushing production came out of the fullback position. Jim Brown was a fullback, not a halfback.

Alstott had 58 career touchdowns, Neal has 6.

All the fullback is expected to do in today's NFL is lead block and get short yardage in those 4th and inches situations. Cramer should be able to do that better than Grigsby did just based on physical talent alone.

I didn't say I wanted a fullback to catch or carry I just want his *** to block and lead the way for the halfback to pick up yardage. When you ask me what a successful fullback does - that's it.

    Anyway, not getting into it.

If this staff wanted Mauia they would have just re-signed him instead of this other character.

Either way, we are deep in the bowels of Dan Hennings TE/H-back happy offense now.

I wonder how Ronnie and Ricky feel about the type of fullback THEY prefer?

ANyways, I think decision is also a result of this weekend's game., The coaches need an H-back/FB type more than a traditional lead blocker/Special Teams guy. The TEs were the biggest part of our offense this weekend.

Also, we may need the flexibi.lity to come to the line with personnel that can slide into either Max Prtoect, block, or go out on a receiving pattern based on an audible by the QB.

Our O-line is not great in Pass Pro yet, so an H-back lets you have a guy in the game who can help in Pass Pro, switch to lead blocking on a run, or switch to running a Chris Cooley-type pattern (flats, or little wheel, etc. to be another reciever. You can go to the line with three options based on what the QB sees.

We need that flexibility until our O-line can handle pass pro without help, and until they can establish the run easily.

    None, I hope.

Though, if you had approached me in July and said "Donald Thomas and Tom Brady will both get injured and miss the season." I'd say, "Fine by me... sounds like a decent trade off."

Of course, the two have nothing to do with one another, but still... that's life in the NFL. I'd rather lose a DOnald Thomas than a Tom Brady.

Heck... wouldn;t it be nice to have a player like that again? (Dreams of Marino)

true but only on moving targets lol. if reagan lined you up, he was much better. he hit with much more power. unfortunately for him too many people tended to move around too much. boomer was better at moving targets

No one is safe on a Parcells team!!! Be afraid players, be very afraid!!!!

He's not the first and he definately won't be the last. Ireland will continue to tweek this roster throughout the year as we are a work in progress.

I would be shocked if he is not playing Sunday. Did you guys watch his interview on Aquavision? He seemed very confident all he did was twist his ankle and that it swelled up. He also said he would more than likely be on the practice field Wednesday.

Some of the offseason acquisitions aren't turning out as expected, McCown is gone, Wilford can't crack the lineup of one of the worst WR groups in the league and now Grigsby.

Yes, kinda troubling if you ask me. I was all gung-ho "In Parcells we trust", now I am thinking, we have more of the same that we have had for the last 7 years.

I think we are cursed as long as H. Wayne is in charge....:pity: Payback for what he did to the Marlins I guess

Gotta give this FO credit...whether they like you or not, if you don't perform you WILL be cut and with no warning. Refreshing from past regimes, who would hold onto a guy for a year or two too long, making excuse after excuse for them, hoping that they would turn around. With these guys it's "F-you! Go hope on somebody else's time."

very good point. Even though I may want a player or two to be given a year to develop if the FO doesnt feel like its worth their time, they are gone. In the long run thats the best policy although Parcells should consult me on his moves before he does them. I dont get it Ive left my number on his voicemail over twenty times :wink2:
