The Vikings are believed to be nearing an agreement with free agent Gus Frerotte. It appears they may have given up on acquiring Sage Rosenfels, who Texans coach Gary Kubiak indicated Tuesday is not available. Frerotte is a major downgrade, but it's hard to criticize Minnesota for wanting to keep its draft picks. The Vikes could still draft an early-round QB later this month.
