when will we stop being the farm system for the New England Patriots?

I say that in jest, but there is a tiny bit of truth to that statement. They have made a living off of other teams castoffs. Yet Polite was one of the best FB's in the league the last couple of years and really shouldn't have been sent packing. It wasn't like he didn't have success in Miami and then found it there. It was more of a bad cut by Miami and a value pickup for the Patriots.

Another ex-Dolphin value pickup that might get a ring.

Give me a break. He had some outstanding games, but most of the time was a below-average blocker who was good in short-yardage. He's played negligible snaps to little effect.

Once defenses figured out what Henning was doing on 3rd and short, Polite was a non-factor. He's a good guy to have around, but in our case, that was a luxury we couldn't afford...the pasties...different story...

One of the most overated players IMO.A FB who cant block well is a luxury that only the Patriots can afford.

They don't even use him on their short yardage situations. They'd rather have Brady jump up and reach the ball over the line.

That AJ Edds had a hell of a career with the Pats, too.

Wouldn't you do the same with a QB the size of Brady?

No. Did you see the hit he took yesterday? I'm sure he's feeling it today.

Really the only player they got that we had that's a contributor is Ninkovich. Otherwise Thomas, Edds, and Polite aren't really doing much of anything.

Not to speak for anyone but I believe what was menat was castoff players. We all knew Welker was going and we got some compensation for him.

Polite was great for us for a year or 2, but his last year here his play fell off...

2009 he was one of the better FBs, 2010 he was one of the worst. Our change in offense under Daboll relegated the FB system wise as well.

They also may have thought Thomas would pick up the slack on short yardage runs. That part is still a work in progress :)

Terrell Buckley played 2 years there, had 7 picks and 1 td plus a super bowl ring.

Polite isn't really a matter of Miami dropping the ball on talent evaluation for 2 reasons. First, as many have mentioned he wasn't a good blocker. Secondly, Daboll's offense didn't utilize a FB.

Don't forget Sammie Morris! When he left us, we turned to crap and the Patriots won all those Super Bowls. Oh, wait. That's not how it happened.

So what if the Pats sign some of our castoffs to play bit roles on their team. Its meaningless that Lou Polite, Sammy Morris, AJ Edds, and Donald Thomas play or have played for the Pats.

Sure it did, pretty much everyone does. Lex Hilliard was the fullback and Charles Clay took a fair portion of his snaps there.

Are you guys talking about the Lousaka Polite who played in only one game this year for the Patsies and had no carries?

HOW about we stop giving Henning free pass while blaming Polite .

what pisses me off is that Wes Welker could have two superbowl rings and make it into the football hall of famee while our wr's are practicly nobodys .

dont tell me to let it go because that trade didnt help us at all and whenwe let our offensive players our defensive players got old at the same time sothat really killed us .

had Miami changed offesnes and got a qb we could be in the pats shoes.

the team that had welker and Chambers RICKY Williams , Zach , and his crew. was way better then the offense we have today.

can you imagine if we had Peyton Manning Wes Welker , Brandon Marshall , and reggie Bush and Bess we can be a playoff team.

The memory that stands out most of Polite is him whiffing on JT and getting Henne killed.
