http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...-unhappiest-say-people-come-money-anyway.html I see these kinds of things every once in a while, and I have to shake my head and wonder where the Hell the people who did the research got their information. They rank Richmond, VA as the "Happiest City in America", and Charlottesville, VA as the "Happiest Region in America". Well, I live almost exactly halfway between the two, so shouldn't that make my house the happiest F'n place on Earth? Seriously, I've lived in and outside of Charlottesville for 10 years now. The people are NOT happy. It is, easily, the most miserable place I've ever spent time in. I basically split the 10 years from 2004-2013 working between Charlottesville and Richmond, and the people in C'Ville are easily the most awful I've ever had to deal with in my life. Angry, cruel even, entitled and miserable. Rich or poor, and very little in between, and they're all mad about it. I tell friends I used to work with (same company) to think of the worst customer that they've had in the past month, and I had to deal with that person 10x a day, every day. Its not just me though, anyone I know who grew up in a working class enviornment and moved to this area feels the exact same way. If this is the best that there is, I pity everyone else! LOL I think that this is the third article like this I've seen just this year. Someone in the local area must be stuffing the pockets of the people who write these kinds of things is my only guess.
Can't beat the scenery, but the real estate is a killer. I don;t know how any middle class person could move there and not be homeless! $300k/yr to rent a one bedroom craphole.
Yep... take your pick... http://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sal...9,-153.951416,18.61241,-161.087036_rect/7_zm/
