The SNES was released in the US during this week back in 1991. For me, that was also the week before I started high school, so it was personally a huge point in my life all around, lol. I wasn't able to actually get a SNES at that point, but I had been closely following its development for years as closely as an American kid could in those days. The hype was real. I eventually saved up virtually all of my allowance and birthday money and it became the first console that I ever purchased for myself about a year later, in the Autumn of 1992. It was absolutely worth it, with a huge step forward in graphics and gameplay from the NES. It was a treasure trove for early RPG and sports games, which remain two of my favorite genres to this day. For me, it was my main system for five years, until I jumped to the Playstation in 1997. It also was the era when I paid the most that I ever have for a singular video game, when before price standards, I paid about $85 for Final Fantasy III (6), which is about $156 adjusted for inflation today. It was still worth it. Did you guys love the SNES? Any big memories? Favorite games?
