What is 311 Day? I do know the band 311 was a known white supremicist group and that the 311 represented the 11th letter of the alphabet which was 3 "Ks". This isnt related I hope.
311 day is of course March 11th (3/11, today) and is a day to listen to and celebrate the band and experiment with various illegal substances And no 311 has nothing to do with the KKK. I hate that stupid *** rumor.

Nah, they're so bad it came pretty quickly. You stay up all night thinking up that oh so witty retort?
That would have been an AMAZING comeback.... ....if I actually listened to bands that wore makeup and spandex. Keep trying guys!
Well if hot women posted on the internet were my thing I'd.....wadeaminnit...it is my thing...never mind.
Not that I'm a KISS fan....but.... Bands influenced by KISS: Far too many to list. Bands influenced by Springsteen: Bon Jovi, John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. KISS FTW.
Springsteen was around way before Bon Jovi was. And KISS couldn't hold a candle to the talent and on-stage performance of Bruce.
Exactly...that's why Jon was influenced by him. You've obviously never seen KISS live. Like I said, not a big fan, but their shows are awesome...well....WERE awesome before they got old. Not dissing Bruce. I actually have nothing against him, but I wouldn't go as far as comparing his "talent" to anyone. He's a great songwriter, but a marginal guitarist at best. And to be QUITE honest, Springsteen is a rip-off. Nothing about his songwriting or music in general is his. It was all pretty much copied from Southside Johnny. Bruce should be sending him royalty checks every month!
Oops, read it wrong, thought you meant he was influenced by Bon Jovi. And what the hell do you mean he's a rip-off? I've never listened to Southside Johnny and this is the first time I've heard the comparison.
Dude...run out and get some Southside CDs then. He's widely known as the originator of Bruce's sound. In fact...Bruce, Little Steven, and Jon Bon Jovi have all appeared onstage in clubs with Southside on occasion. They're ALL influenced by him.
So Bruce was influenced by Southside Johnny, what's the big deal? Most of the great bands that came after the 50's and 60's were influenced by other bands and sounds from that era. I never thought Springsteen's sound was purely his. I knew he was inspired by others. That doesn't change the fact that Springsteen is a a phenomenal song writer and the band is amazing musically.
Like I said bro, not dissing him. But it's way more than just influenced. You come from Jersey, you should know that the Asbury Jukes music and Bruce's are incredibly similar. And yes, they're all very good musicians, but you're reaching when you say "amazing". IMO, amazing is someone like Jaco Pastorius or Billy Cobbham. Someone who makes you go "WHOA!" when you hear them play. Even though I enjoy Bruce's music, I've never gone "WHOA!" at anything him or anyone in his band has played. It's good music, definitely. Amazing? Nuh uh.
I just know that Bruce's music is different from song-to-song and album-to-album. I love that variety. Plus, it's his lyrics and story-telling that I fell in love with. So, I personally think he's amazing, and I understand that not everyone will share my opinion.
First acheived prominence in the mid-70's, bro. he was around in the clubs before then. I guess Bruce paid him back for the influence by helping with the first album. I've been told by more than a few that Johnny was the originator.
I am just trying to learn about Southside. He seems like an artist I'd really like if him and Bruce have similar sounds. Bruce was around in the clubs before his first album came out in 1973 as well...maybe you DO have it backwards
