Just figured I would start a thread where we could all list food that are pretty healthy to eat, but at the same time are filling and taste good. Here are my favorites thus far, please share yours!!
1.) Diet Soda - I once heard a great man say, "Don't drink your calories." Thanks to diet soda I no longer do that.
2.) Almonds - Usually one serving of almonds fills me up (surprisingly). They had a few grams of protein and are less than 200 calories.
3.) Frank's Buffalo Sauce - Someone else recommended this to me as it has 0 calories. I used to marinade chicken in salad dressings and use seasonings, not anymore!! I cook the chicken plan and use the hell out of this sauce. It's delicious.
4.) Chicken Breast - Pretty obvious, but I will offer you a new way to cook it that is easy and requires no clean up. Go to Chipotle and order a burrito bowl to go. Keep the aluminum lid and and wash it off. Next time you go to cook chicken, take a half foot of aluminum foil and wrap the chicken breast, throw it inside the aluminum Chipotle burrito bowl cover. Preheat oven to 350, throw chicken in there for 30 minutes. Keep aluminum cover, throw out the aluminum directly wrapping the chicken. Great tasting chicken with no clean up.
5.) Greek Yogurt - Usually has a bit more calories than the diet yogurts, BUT it has a lot more protein.
6.) Body Fortress Whey Protein - If you are cheap like me you will love this stuff. It is dirt cheap and has a great $$$ to protein ratio. If you mix it with milk it actually tastes good. Its just okay in water though.
7.) Publix Organic Margherita Pizza - This thing is absolutely delicious. It's cheap (less than $6) and you can eat the whole damn pizza and it only has 660 calories and 30g of protein.
8.) Curley's BBQ Pulled Chicken or Pulled Pork - Tastes great, easy to microwave and has little calories to protein ratio. For one serving you get 100 calories and 10g protein. It is a touch sweet, so I wouldn't recommend big servings, but its great for a snack.
9.) Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat Bread - It tastes pretty good and is the healthiest bread I could find. Two slices is only 100 calories and provides 8g protein.
10.) McDouble - This is okay when you just need a hamburger. One of these bad boys has 390 calories, but 23g of protein.
11.) Bud Select 55 - Sometimes you just need a beer. Bud Select 55 is really good and only has 55 calories. If you do get it make sure to get it in GLASS bottles. If you get aluminum it sort of takes on an aluminum taste.
12.) Jello Sugar Free Pudding - Need desert? No worries have some pudding. It will only cost you 60 calories and provides 2 or 3g of protein.
13.) Chipotle Burrito Bowl - This place is damn good. They have a lot of calories, but also a lot of protein (close to 60g). Find out how much your burrito bowl will cost you nutritionally here: http://www.chipotle.com/en-us/menu/nutrition_calculator/nutrition_calculator.aspx
14.) Canned Tuna - Tons of protein and little calories. It you like a little more flavor in your meals, open a can of tuna cooks some corn, mix the corn and tuna together and put italian dressing on top and mix it up. It sounds weird, but I really like it.
That's all I got right now, I'll add more food as I find it

Good thread man. I really need to drop some lbs. Im at 210 which isnt bad. But a lot less weight training the past few years and overall activity since breaking my leg a part, has my weight all in my stomach area. I feel and look like sponge bob. Lol. Need to change that.

-Cayenne Pepper on Popcorn/fiber+fire
-Fruit especially peaches
-Dried fruit
-Raw veggies, especially those bags of carrots/broccoli/califlower
-Bacon wrapped jalapenos
-Fast food..just Arby's roast beef or potato soft tacos from Taco Bell
-Unsweetened herbal iced tea
I USED to drink a ton of diet soda but it wired me up to much.UCF FINatic likes this. -
- Dried Fruit (apricots, apples and raisins) - Lots of potassium for workout recovery without the mess of pits and cores.
- Cucumbers - Great for keeping you full. Lots of water weight in there. Good for skin also.
- Peanut butter - reasonably healthy as it has redeeming nutritional value (protein, vitamins) and goes great with celery or jelly obviously.
- Bananas - They leave me surprisingly full. High in potassium.
- Jello/Gel fruit cups - Gotta have something sweet...low calorie and healthy.
In general try and stay away from manufactured products and hang in the produce and meat sections. Salty foods (like soups) and greasy foods (fast foods, fried stuff) are also strict no go's.UCF FINatic likes this. -
I'm sure half of your list will give you cancer and kill you. Waiting on the resident nutritionist to weigh in.

UCF - Ever put your nuts in greek yogurt? I usually throw cashews in there. Pretty good. I like the sweet and salty combo.
I'll add some quick and easy foods to make.
Eggs - All three fats in one. Plus tons of cholesterol. Especially helpful if you're eating low/lower in fat. Tons of amino acids too (very balanced). Seriously, eat some eggs every day.
Blueberry Waffles - Eggo brand waffles are 95 cals a pop, plus are a pretty decent source of iron, calcium, etc... I'm sure any waffles will do, but I'm a blueberry fan. I throw some ihop sugar free syrup on there and enjoy. I sometimes add some chicken (little syrup on that too) and it's a good *** meal.
Bagel bites - Get some real bagels, a good low cal sauce, fat free mozzarella (only fat free cheese I will ever eat, the rest are disgusting), and throw in toaster oven/oven. Should work out to be around 250 cals per whole bagel w/goodies. Plus 15 or so grams of protein.
Wendy's chili - Large cup is 2 bucks, 300 calories, 25g protein, and like 15+g fiber. Protein and fiber are the hardest things for the stomach to digest. It will sit in your stomach for a while, curbing any hunger for 3 or more hours. Or try some of the hormel brands in the store. The master series has all kinds of chicken flavors that are amazing. Chipolte flavor is obviously the best.
Beef Jerky - Low cal, high protein, and amazing. Price is steep.
Ice cream sandwhich - Calories are usually 150 or lower depending on size and brand. Nice quick, low cal snack on a hot day/night.
Ciroc coconut vodka with sprite zero - Expert drinking maneuver. Smart. You're welcome in advance for this one.
And suckier foods with benefits.
Cinnamon - Cinnamon is pretty ****ing amazing. Believe it or not, this spice packs quite a punch in a few areas of your health. Eat up to a teaspoon a day with meals. Helps control blood sugar like a beast. I find it flavors up my greek yogurt pretty nice.
Coffee- There are so many health benefits to coffee, you're practically suicidal if you don't drink it.
Celery - A negative calorie food. Has 0 calories and the body has to work to digest it. Add some franks for flavor.
Salad - Another crappy dish that will add hardly any calories. The best benefit to eating this crap is it will sit in your stomach, absorb the liquids and make you fuller. If I'm ever feeling hungry as ****, this is my go to food. Salad + fat free italian dressing = diet win.
I'll try and think of some more.UCF FINatic likes this. -
- I'd never consider Soda/Pop whether it is diet or not a diet food. On a diet cut out all Soda/Pop
- Fav is turkey sausage links for breakfast or some egg beaters
- Fit yogurt
- Protein shake
- For a snack the best is Pickles or Jello
- Turkey burgers
- salad
- Beer............ya I said it. Diet or not I like me some beer :yes:Boik14 and UCF FINatic like this. -

Cottage cheese. With blueberries and peanut butter.
Greek yogurt with whey protein.
Bananas. I will eat 3-4 for a snack.UCF FINatic likes this. -
I definitely feel you on the wired part. I think switching to diet soda has been a big reason that I have a hard time sleeping at night. I might try to stop drinking diet soda a few hours before my bed time. -

I usually buy flavored almonds like smokehouse or wasabi and soy sauce and another thing I have always wanted to try is crushing the almonds and using them to crust chicken. I think if you did it right it would help flavor the chicken and give it a crunchy texture, sort of like it has been fired. When I try this I will let everyone know what I thought. -

Found this gem on Reddit. I would like to ween myself from diet soda eventually, but as of now I enjoy it so its not a huge deal to me. -
Diet soda does not slow metabolism. And the caffeine speeds it up...

Clark K mentioned eggs, I like having hard boiled eggs around for a snack.
Also like home made chicken salad w/low fat ranch or mayo.UCF FINatic likes this. -
Sorry no. Those are epidemiological studies. Aka ones that are of the variety of 'A and B together does not mean A causes B'
There is zero clinical proof that diet soda / artificial sweeteners are bad for you: http://examine.com/faq/is-diet-soda-bad-for-you.html -
Speaking from experience, I stopped drinking soda as a part of my diet when I was like 20. That was pretty much the only thing I changed and to this day my diet still sucks. I dropped from a 38 to a 34 just by changing that one thing. Why is that important? Because the larger your waistline, the higher your chance of cancer and other diseases. Anything carbonated isnt going to help that. So save the carbonation for beer.
