Do we not need a NT ?
Especially now that Fergie is pretty much history...
He's there for the taking WTF lets not blow it..
What more could we ask for.........
Imagine that line in front of Dansby .....
Talking about toes tingling.....

We'lll not likely draft Cody IMHO as Parcells hates overweight players. Dan Williams seems our most likely candidate to me. Shaun Rogers could be a decent pickup if Parcells and Sparano believe they can motivate the guy to resurrect his career and play 110% every down, every game.
-
Takes plays off. The guy has been so over used anybody would take plays off. The guy is a beast and with Soliai there to give him a breather he'd stay a beast.
Cody who knows ? could be great could be a bust. Could be there could be gone. Be nice to have more options with our second also.
Rogers Proven top shelf NT...and is there for the taking....JMO -
See, everyone keeps saying that Mount Cody is overweight, or has weight problems, or what have you. But here's the cold hard fact of the matter. Terrence Cody played 2 years at Alabama under Nick Saban, one of the strictest disciplinarians in all of sports, and in those 2 years there was never a time when Cody did not make the weight that Saban set for him. The kid has talent, heart, and prototypical size for a NT. The weight would not be an issue if he landed in Miami.
-
Cody made weight but its not a weight the Phins FO will accept....They will likely want him at 325-330 and thats not a weight he has seen in a LONG LONG time. I read Rogers played in the neighborhood of 900 snaps which is ridiculous.... and has been on losing teams EVERYWHERE he went... Give the guy a breather and win a few games and see if his attitude changes

That taking plays off idea is hilarious really. I mean it's pretty obvious he can play 50% of snaps. That's all I ask.
Just in case one guys get injured a third backup DT should probably be able to play the nose if necessary. I'm guessing we could acquire him for a third round pick.

That doesn't look too bad. Besides I bet Parcells busts Ireland's nuts again to get him a precious draft pick again. Trade down from the early first to the later first would be a good idea. -
There seems to be a misconception here about Terrence Cody. Terrence Cody is a large man, hence the nickname Mount Cody. He dropped 70lbs his first year at Alabama but still has the massive tree trunk legs of a 420lb man. However he's not "out of shape." First of all, he anchored the DLine of the #1 National Champion defense and is the reason Rolando McClain looked so good. He's strong at the point of attack, commands 2-3 blockers on every play and has quick feet. You can go back and look at interviews from Urban Meyer, Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban, Tommy Tubberville, Houston Nutt, etc that praise Cody. I remember a press conference in which Urban Meyer said, and I quote, "I've never seen a man that size, move that way." So yeah, there's more to Mount Cody than "ROFL underboobz!!!1"

A prototypical Nose Tackle is about 6'2" and 320+ lbs; tell me that's not a textbook description of a guy with a weight problem.
I'm not concerned about anything regarding Rogers, except that he might end up somewhere else.

Rogers has a reputation for free lancing which would not go over well with this staff.

While we're at it, how about his short shuttle and all that? -

Rodgers is a proven Probowl caliber NT! He chases Qbs and Rbs all over the field and blocks multiple kicks a year. Passing on him for a Thigpen trade would be criminal! Yes Holmgrem likes Thigpen. Cody might be great or he might be a flop! With Rodgers we know he is great he is a 3 time Probowler and that speaks volumes for a guy who spent his career as a Brown and a Lion.

The only way what Urban Meyer said was truthful was with the caveat he's never seen someone that huge try to move in general outside of like one of those shows where they knock out a wall of persons house and call a special veterinary ambulance. -
Just wanted to point out that Mount Cody weighed in at 349 today at Alabama's pro-day. 21 lbs lighter than the Senior Bowl and 6 lbs lighter than the combine. The guy likes to eat but he doesn't have weight problems. He stays disciplined when it counts.
-
He's 14lbs away from where he needs to be. Some major weight clauses and he should be retimed for the shuttle and what not so that Disgustipate and I can rip into the numbers.
-
Just a heads up, a lot of that weight he lost may well be muscle mass. He is listed at benching only 21 reps at his pro day.
That is awful for a NT, especially someone that is 350+. -
When was the last time Cody was under 350? Middle school?finyank13 likes this. -
I don't like Cody at all.
He's a blob.
I know measureables don't mean everything but 22 reps at 225 for a NT that weighs as much as a house? **** flapping in the breeze at the combine. Sorry, he was lazy and content with his weight and strength problem in college where he knew he had to prove himself to get to the next level. Do you really think he'll be motivated to work out and lose weight after he signs for 20 million dollars guaranteed?
Cody's bust chances are HUGE IMO. -
Clearly his only motivation to get in shape was for draft status.
So whatever team drafts him can count on him to crash diet the year before his contract will expire? Rest of the time he'll just hope that sheer poundage will make him a great NFL NT?
