Greetings!!! First time poster, first time on the site. This seems to be a pretty solid board, and I hope to be around for the rest of the week, if possible.
Let me begin by saying I'm also a huge Meeeechigan fan, and it's going to pain me watching us knock Chad and Jake around. Those guys are truly warriors, but I've had to move on since they've left Ann Arbor.
On to the game. Not sure if you guys are aware, but our defense is just wicked. They just line up and smack people in the mouth, so you better bring your lunch buckets on Sunday. Your running backs better be ready, being we have a very disruptive front seven that likes to fly around and make plays, especially our linebackers. Might be a good week to scrap the "wildcat", talk to the Brownies.
Better double up Wallace when we have the ball, expect a big game from Miller the TE over the middle next week, and get ready for a steady dose of Mendy. Also, expect a much better game from Ben this week, being as he should now be acclimated to game speed and conditions.
Anyway, good luck and see you guys around....

we scrapped the wildcat last week. didn't run it once.
Your defense is nasty, they have been for years.
Wallace? we held Randy Moss to 0 receptions this season, we can handle Wallace.
We can't handle Miller though. Dude will rip us a new one probably. TE are kryptonite wrapped in poison for us.
Cameron Wake has the same amount of sacks as Timmons and Woodley have combined. He's sacked every QB he's faced so far with the exception of 1.
As per your question, I'd ask Ben Rapestberger but he's currently in the bathroom with some woman.MonstBlitz, xer0, SeanP and 18 others like this. -
welcome! make yourself at home.
I'm hoping for a very good game this weekend, I think the steelers are probably top 3 (likely best in the league at the moment), so it is hard for me to say that I believe we "should" be winning this game. That said, I think we do have some things going for us:
1. Coming off a couple of hard home losses, I think our team will play very hard in front of our home crowd
2. We are very healthy in comparison to previous weeks. Ideally, we'll have John Jerry and Jared Odrick back for the game, which should help on both sides of the ball.
3. It is possible it'll be another mud fest this year. If we can get back to grinding the ball on the ground, it'll take some pressure off Henne having to throw with Troy back there watching Chad stare down his target -

Welcome to the best fan forum on the web. You will get some intelligent conversation eventually I assure you.
That said...our Defense gets paid too, Big Boner had a good game coming back, but it was the Browns after all. You are right on about the running backs, I think thats the key to the game for us, if we can't get something going early on in the running game it will be a long day for our Offense.
I'll take Marshall over Wallace any day, and after Sunday all of Pittsburgh will know who Davone Bess is.
Oh, and be sure that your O-line and your QB will be making the acquaintence of #91.Boik14 likes this. -
You’ll have to beat the interior line or RT Vernon Carey to get to Henne. That probably won’t be a problem for your defense. Conversely, I expect Cameron Wake to let Big Ben know what it feels like to be the other person in a nightclub bathroom.

If Polite is out forget it, don't go with a FB formation against the Steelers you're doing them a favor.
Go 4 WR with Ronnie Brown in the backfield. Make that 3-4 rush from a 4 man predictable line. Better yet run against their dime package. I'm not scared of that prospect at all.
If we go 4 WR I'm guessing we can get the Steelers to go with a 3-2-6. Then proceed to ram Harrison over every single play. Make them predictable with their pass rush. I'm not afraid of Harrison-Keisel-Hampton-Smith if I know they're the ones coming in every single time.Boik14, Pandarilla, Frumundah Finnatic and 1 other person like this. -
Welcome man! Also a big Michigan fan here too. Hope its a good game sunday! Of course, hope we come out on top! A Dolphins win, and of course Michigan can't loose Saturday, so if the phins win, its a good weekend for me!

This will likely be the most physical game of the season to this point... Sparano will be preaching and going 0-3 at home is something I have a hard time stomaching.
I'm with Jaj, I believe we spread that D out and throw away from Polamalu.
If we don't set the edge better this week, Mendenhall is gonna have a huge day as AP did. Odrick back in the lineup should help, Crowder too.
Wake is an Earthquake...
I hope Jake Long gets a piece of Harrison, I'd love to see that douche eat some crow! -

Pitt is a very good team. I'm most worried about Ben's ability to extend plays. Our pass rush this year has consisted of one player, Wake. I feel our DBs are good enough to handle Wallace over the first 3.5 seconds, but if the play is extended then big plays are possible. Against the run, we've struggled but with Crowder, Ike and McDaniel back last week and with Odrick coming back this week our run D should be at full strength for the first time all year.
Pitt's D is scary, but I'm not worried about their pass rush. Our pass blocking has been excellent. I am more worried about their secondary. Polamalu is a play maker and Henne usually has a few wild passes per game. They're not really bad decisions, but there are a few inaccurate passes every week. Our run blocking has been spotty. We seem to run well to the left, struggle in the middle and only run well to the right when RW has the ball. (?)
And of course, the wild card this season has been our STs. Arguably, we would be 5-0 if the STs had just been average instead of a liability. Not that we've been stellar in all the other phases, but we probably prevail in our two losses if the STs hadn't imploded.
Question for you: Is this the year that Pitt springs for logos on both sides of their helmet?
Overall, I'd give Pitt the advantage just b/c they've been more consistent this year, but I see it as a one score game either way unless our STs implodes again.Frumundah Finnatic, HULKFish and Pandarilla like this. -
we have a real advantage that needs to be exploited, Our 4 man front on pass rushing down's, odrick can rush the passer from his position, Stark's as well, both can play the run too, No one can stop Wake, and Langford can set containment so Berger doesn't get on the perimeter...our ability to generate pressure with these few players that do have pass rushing skillset's is a major key imo, we can do this without sending extra guy's, and it will allow us to sit in zones while our guys up front try to win the game..
If you watched us last week, you will see that 91 has tremendous tracking athleticism..he doesn't get deeked out by QB's, and when he get's there, he's so strong, and athletic, that he closes the deal...Roth makes a living out of deeking defenders in the pocket and shakin off defenders...Wake is the answer..
I will tell you this, we know our team, and this one in particular is going to be super hyped for this game, if your coaches are smart, they will play a big misdirection game with us..and if our coaches are smart they will recognize that are team wants to kill someone at home, and be prepared for that style of formation..
It has been our biggest weakness so far.Frumundah Finnatic and Pandarilla like this. -

1) Yes, I do. I just can't figure out how it is that an entire city (Miami) worships a porpoise, er, dolphin, or whatever. I always thought they called your stadium the "Fish Bowl"? At any rate, expect an entire legion of Steelers fans to come calling Sunday....here fishy-fishy.
2) Ben is not in jail for two main reasons: 1) The college girl that charged him in Georgia was so drunk, she couldn't even fill out her police report until several hours later. 2) The girl in Georgia followed him to another bar that she wasn't allowed in, and produced fake identification. The prosecuter should have charged her, but didn't.
Yes, Ben was with her, IMO. Yes, they were in the bathroom together. Yes, Ben had the door watched by his bouncers. The rest is unsure, but let me be clear about one thing here....if having sex with drunk college girls is a crime, then I'm guilty as well, and I imagine some of you are, too. All the money the prosecuter spent, all the interviews, all the witnesses, all the publicity, and yet he couldn't even get the case in front of the grand jury for indictment.
3) Piss-yellow towel? That's the Terrible Towel, and it has mystical power over it's opponent. It has been around the face of the globe, in space, in time, and perhaps is in heaven. Started by legendary Steelers broacaster Myron Cope (R.I.P,2008), the proceeds go a needy childrens foundation set up by Myron in Pittsburgh. It is perhaps the most recognizable symbol in the world, and is a must for any Steelers fan.
Like the American flag, it is treated with the utmost respect from members of Steelers Nation, and thus should be treated by respect from all the Fish in Miami. Maybe you folks could get a symbol for your team, like maybe a fishing bobber or something. -

Steelers DE Brett Keisel (hamstring) will sit out in Week 7.
Based on comments from coach Mike Tomlin Monday, the injury could cost Keisel multiple weeks. Nick Eason or Ziggy Hood will start in his place.
