Hi.
I have a problem with my computer. Today I came from school and I found popups appearing all over my computer. I don't know if its a virus or what but its annoying as hell. I have a yellow icon appearing on the bottom right, looks like a yield sign. I also have a blue circle with question mark that alternates with a red X in it. Finally, does anyone know how to get rid of this?

Lucky recommended the same thing. Is it Spybot 1.5.1 Search and Destroy?

Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?
Link works for me even behind my work firewall... :shifty: -
Main reasons for Popups:
1. Porn surfing.
2. Porn downloading.
3. Porn streaming.
4. Porn subscription.
So which was it?opfinistic, Colorado Dolfan, finsgirlie and 2 others like this. -
I destroyed some of the processes or whatever they are called and now I have like six popups on the left that state the following:
" Process Terminated: Resident terminated process because it was on black list."
Am I doing this right lol? -
Also check out Webroots Windows Washer, I use it along with ad-aware and Symantec on almost a daily basis. :yes:alen1 likes this. -

If you dont run your spyware and adware detector frequently you will fill your PC with garbage that will slow your PC down plus leave you vulnerable to the world.
I run spybot and AVG and ad aware every day. They will each pick up stuff that the others miss. The new spybot will tell you when there is spyware that is about to be installed -

Section's right. 9 times out of 10 I'll get a computer in for virus removal that has loads of porn history. Of course clicking random **** on myspace and downloading files you have no idea where they're from is the other causes. The best way to stay virus/spyware free is to only visit and download from sites you're familiar with.

Avast isn't too bad. I know there isn't a perfect A/V program, but when I've used it, it didn't detect enough. Not the worse choice though.
I'm a big fan of using Trend's online scanner when you can't install a program but still have internet access.
Also a fan of X-Cleaner.
I could sit here and tell you the pro's and cons of a lot of software and name a lot more that I like. But it's always best to not have to use any of it because you're careful of the sites you surf.
As far as an active antivirus program goes, I use and recommend Norton 360. It's got a lot of great features and most of the stuff it does is in the background and you'll never be aware it's doing anything. -
It's a separate program than the Norton A/V.

If you happen to get it, make sure you get the 2.0 version. A lot of bugs were fixed from the original one. It also includes Firefox support. (Which BTW, you better be using instead of IE, that alone will help keep crap off your computer). -

You should be fine after you run those scans. They won't prevent it from happening again though because they don't provide real-time protection.alen1 likes this. -
